Manu-Olevao will not be Hawaii's primary option the way Hartong, Danielson, etc., was for the Wahine but she won't have to be. That is one of the reasons why I believe she will shine this year. The talent and depth on this Wahine team will be a benefit, not only to Shoji but to Tai as well, in more ways than one. Polly wants a crackah? Dude's new name is Polly. Whether you were there in Europe or not this past month, the rehash is again on Tai Manu. So she had a good tour through May. What of it? I'm willing to take the bet that beyond her mere athleticism, the mental toughness is not there for an entire season's stretch. Conference season is going to end with (my guess=1 loss) a complacent "let down". go figure it all out, but my confidence in the Hawaiian staff *since 2010* is shot to all heck. Poho! UH-fans can be so ete momona, yeah? Hui, Mary. My thoughts have very little to do with how Olevao performed in Europe. Shut your waha. Lol.

I like Sherridan A. and Sara Watanabe being OH#1 for the Beach this next season. They'd be very complimentary. I actually never thought of Watanabe as a OH. I do know that she did play OH in high school and that she does have a pretty good arm swing. However, I am not sure she is the answer on the OH. While she could be fun to watch, and could potentially be a Carly Kan type player (although probably not as good), Watanabe at the OH is probably not going to happen.

I think Watanabe has a good chance at starting the season as the team's libero. However, by the beginning of conference, I can see one of the two incoming, frosh, defensive dandies--5'11 Mykah Wilson or 5'8 Sarah Miller--challenging Watanabe for the starting libero position. On the outside, 6'2 Anete Brinke will likely start on the left side with Nele Barber--6'0 Marquette transfer--anchoring the left side with Brinke. Both Barber and Brinke are six rotation players and will provide additional depth in the back row. On the right side, 6'5 heralded, red shirt frosh Sherridan Atkinson will likely provide height and firepower at OPP. Returning BWC FOY, 6'2 Ashley Murray returns to anchor the middle with Hayley Benson--6'4 Ball St. transfer and AVCA All Region---likely to join Murray in the middle. However, BG might choose to start 6'4 senior Tiara Wallace or 6'4 incoming frosh Peyton Grahovac at the middle blocker #2 position.

I think she will be a crucial part of the team's offense and blocking this upcoming season.

I am too. I think Atkinson is going to have a breakout year this fall.

Jake here's a scheduling nugget for you. Cal Poly is playing Portland, Idaho and St. Francis at the Portland Tournament. 9/11 Cal Poly vs Idaho 9/12 Cal Poly at Portland 9/12 Cal Poly vs St. Francis (Brooklyn) Note: I think that's St. Francis College in Brooklyn, New York as opposed to Saint Francis University in Pennsylvania. Jake, St. Francis only had 4 wins last season so they should be a rare W for Cal Poly.
