Anyone see much of the Sting 17's today? Went three sets in all three matches. Was their pool that tough or are they not as good as everyone expected?

Anyone know why San Clemente 16-1 (2nd in 15 Open last year) is playing 17's in this tournament? They almost beat Scott Stadick and Milwaukee Sting today (15-9 in the 3rd). Didn't register in time and 16s was full. 17s had an open spot so they did that.

What is the purpose of HBC playing the no. 71 seeded team in a non bid tournament? I understand it's a necessary evil for the invitational in order to get the 10 bids, but this tournament really needs Open and Club divisions.
The current format makes day one pretty much pointless for the top seeds. And the lower level teams are just getting killed. It would be better for both to play in a power pool format against teams closer to their skill level.

The GLC Pre-National has the 18s power-pooled (Ult Gold, spri 1, spri 2, hitmen, nvc) this weekend... not the BEST competition (no West coast or East coast teams) but at least they're all Open teams and won't be whooping on anyone 25-8... we'll see how it goes. Hopefully it will catch on in the future, especially with 3 day tournaments... day 1 is useless. Also, the Palos Summer Bash added an 18 Open division (second year now), very good competition over all 3 days, a great success in my opinion!

We didn't even see the bottom half.

Sting 17's lose to Seaside in 2. Even if they can beat SG Elite, may lose out on tiebreakers to stay in Gold.

In the 15s division, HBC (the 5th seed) beat 949 (the 3rd seed) 25-23, 24-26, 15-13
Big rivalry because the 949 setter and oppo played for HBC last year and left the team

Spectrum 16-1s lose to Team Rockstar 19-25 28-26 18-16 So if Team Rockstar beats Ohana (as they should) Spectrum is out of the gold bracket?

^No. Spectrum needs to beat Balboa Bay 2s in 2 sets and they win the pool. Rockstar lost to Balboa 2s in 2 sets.
