One thing that I notice about Mick and Sealy both...their bench players are chained to the bench. It is shocking to see either of them use subs at the end of a match with a big lead. I don't agree with that philosophy at all.

SC also lost the third set to Arizona and big lead in the 4th could disappear quickly if reserves are brought in.

A perfect record means little at this point unless trying for another undefeated season. I'd say it's worth risking a mid-season game to develop those deep bench players. The alternative is to hope they won't be needed this season or post-season. But could be trouble later if illness or injury were to sideline active players, causing those reserve players to experience 'initiation by fire.'

I think more than five people have made the same post over different posts I made. People don't want to agree with me since the truth is often unpalatable.

Forget about the bench, the current starters still need to figure out how to play together, they still got sloppy and confused on the court, not to mention poor connection between the setters and the hitters...

I don't think they should empty the whole bench during these times, that's not what I am saying. They should let one, maybe two bench players get a chance during these opportunities. When you are up 2-0 against Cal, Utah, Oregon State or Washington State, let one or two of these kids on the bench get in for a few rotations in game 3 and see what they do. This can be done strategically without taking ALL the regulars out. If you lose game 3, then chain them back to the bench for the rest of the match, if you are so worried about things. Let these kids play a little...they may surprise everyone.

Sarah Livingston checked-in to serve a couple times versus on the road trip against the Oregon schools. She was removed after losing service. Niki Withers played the last several points against UO.
Congrats to Sam for moving into 2nd on the USC career kill list!

SC should switch to 5-1 now to prepare for post-season. Oregon thread made me realize the weakest players for respective positions are Pizzasegola and Johnson in OPP. Make Abercrombie learn to hit Ds and maybe start Ford on bics too.

I hope most folks recognize Garrick's contributions. She's a big upgrade from Schmidt IMO. USC always has a superstar libero but rarely get a great DS to compliment. I've been envious of the magnificent defensive tandems that Penn State would put out.

Does anyone know if Dunn is out for the season? That's what commentators mentioned in the Oregon match.

I think she is redshirting. Why waste a year of eligibility if you are not 100% healthy. Plus I think it would be hard for her to break into the lineup this year. I wonder if this will backfire for USC as the have a very thin bench.
