I think she is redshirting. Why waste a year of eligibility if you are not 100% healthy. Plus I think it would be hard for her to break into the lineup this year. I wonder if this will backfire for USC as the have a very thin bench. Well, MIck hasn't been shy about shredding a redshirt year (see: Sary, Cinammon). So if Dunn is physically available to play and he needs her, I can certainly see him pulling her off the bench. Particularly in a season where USC looks to have a legitimate shot at the NC. The key phrase, however, is "physically available to play."

From attending USC VB matches over the years, Mick has a "love hate" relationships with the sophomore players. He usually plays the Freshman players, giving them the chance to start and insert them on the floor throughout the season. When the player enters her Sophomore year, she is almost invisible on the 'SC floor. I don't know why that is... and by Junior Season, players usually drop out, transfer to another school and/or quit VB altogether. I've seen so many 'SC players having a great Freshman season, only to be forgotten in the later years. Anyone here knows what happens between Freshman and Sophomore season at 'SC....

Cinnamon Sary was treated horribly by Mr. Magoo. I never understood his preference for Haley Crone, who struggled so badly last year. I think of how good Sary would be for SC last year and this year if she had been handled correctly from the beginning. What a waste.
Isn't Ogoms another one who played a lot early, was then cemented on the bench for two years, and is now playing again as a Senior?

I disagree with both of the posts above. Geena Urango could have been a libero but there is a reason she was beaten out by Hillgren and Hagglund. The USC quality OH's were tough to bench in order for Urango to play. She played at OH in some matches in 2007 because of injuries. But to be real, how many coaches would have started the freshman Urango over Gysin/Copenhagen on the outside? Copenhagen gets replaced by Alex Jupiter. Urango's place was in the backrow at USC and even then she was not a stud there. She was a great all around player, not to take anything away from her. She is an awesome person, she loved the game and accepted her role otherwise she would have transferred out.
I don't mean to sound harsh, but Sara Shaw came in as a freshman in 2010, and Mick Haley decided to use Shaw as the 3-rotation DS for Katie Fuller, and using Urango only as a serving specialist for the middles. If Urango really was the better player - you don't think Mick would have used her as the 3-rotation DS? Especially as a senior?
Cinnamon Sary had potential but she was a very poor defender. I was much more impressed with Crone. Crone had set pretty well her sophomore year, she really grew into the 5-1 role. I think the 6-2 her Junior year is where she really excelled. Mick Haley praised Crone over and over. and I agreed with him. Re-watch USC vs. BYU and Washington in the 2013 NCAA's (BYU is on youtube, Washington you can find somewhere), pay attention to only Crone and how she delivers the ball. Yeah, Nwanebu makes her look good but she has some pretty good set location and athleticism. Crone had injury issues her senior year and combine that with the garbage passing early in the season, recipe for disaster. If Sary was very talented, following the opinion that Haley starts freshman, wouldn't she have seen more playing time her freshman year?
Ogoms played a lot her freshman year, but Schraer was playing really well in 2013. Olgard was not losing her spot, obviously. Ogoms definitely played a lot less her sophomore year, but she played every match or close to it last season, and she has played every match or close to it this season.. That's hardly cemented on the bench for two years... She even played the NCAA match against BYU when Olgard was out and saw time against UW in the epic match.

First defeat of the season. And it's okay. Best to feel it now rather than when it's too late. It's an opportunity for reflection and growth. Still proud of 2015 Women of Troy VB.

Here's a nice little video of Samantha Bricio's 1,919th career kill, the most all-time in program history!
She passed Jen Kessy (3rd; 1995-98) and Alex Jupiter (2nd; 2008-11) for #1 all-time in career kills tonight. Considering all of the former greats that have played at USC, I'd say this is a big accomplishment for the 20 year old:
Also, I loved the celebration by her teammates after the point, especially from frosh Baylee Johnson who set her up for the kill. Then, in typical Bricio-fashion, she calmly goes back to the service line like, "Welp, on to the next one. Who wants to get aced?"
The standing ovation and the shot at the end of her waving to the crowd was great. Congrats on making history, Samy! Truly one of the best Trojans ever!

Just wow!! Bricio is my favorite player to watch this year. All time career kills leader for the Women of Troy. She didn't even look excited typical Sam. Johnson was so much more excited for her. Not overly emotional. Loved her smile and peace after though. 10th all time in the PAC for kills is an equally impressive feat. Congrats to her I am sure all she cares about is getting as far as she can come post season and getting the NC.
