As the saying goes: "Amazing Climb, Amazing Fall".....USC does not make the FINAL FOUR I am picking them losing in the second round. They are slow and tired.

2015 espnW Volleyball Player Of The Year: USC's Samantha Bricio!
Congratulations to Samantha! She's had a noteworthy season so far and is deserving of this award, along with many other successful vb players on other teams.
This espnW honor for Bricio as VB National Player of the Year is made possible through Samantha's team:
*Coach Haley and staff. *The Women of Troy passers, and obviously the setters. *And credit for this honor must be shared with the 'SC hitters (who draw away blockers at the net), such as Brittany Abercrombie, Alyse Ford, Alicia Ogoms & Elise Ruddins. *Also, her team's blocking on the net ultimately benefits Samantha's game. Sam has worked on her defensive blocking, but again gets support: fLove the block assists by Samicia Briciogoms!
Hypothetically put Bricio on many other teams and she wouldn't necessarily win this honor. So...
Congratulations to the Women of Troy team and Samantha Bricio. FIGHT ON!

The Women of Troy open up the first round of the NCAA Tournament today when the Cleveland State University Vikings meet USC at 7:30pm PT. Lots of Ohioans will be playing on the court in L.A., including USC Setter Baylee Johnson - who is from Dayton, OH. I wonder if Baylee knows or played against some of the Cleveland State team members during high school state tournaments last year.
Even though the match against Cleveland State may be quickly over, something to watch for is Alyse Ford’s new jump serve. She debuted it last month in Galen against OSU, but then didn’t get many more match service attempts until last Friday against Cal:
Alyse’s new jump serve is SPECTACULAR! Ford holds the ball out a few steps back from the back line. She tosses it high into the air in the path of the St. Louis arch. Then she quickly moves forward, plants her left toes parallel with endline (like Bricio) and jumps sky high. Alyse’s hand strikes the ball about nine feet up in the air. Also noteworthy: at the point of hitting the ball in the air, Ford is already four or five feet past the endline. Along with the velocity, this contributes to less reaction time for the receiving team. Ford has earned a couple aces with this serve so far. It’s electrifying to watch her serve! As she fine tunes her mechanics, Alyse Ford’s serve is going to be very fierce!

Has she even served in the tournament yet? Not yet. I guess you can keep watching out for it. She probably won't.

Congratulations on defeating USD 3-0 in the second round. Here's the post-game press conference with Sam's & Alicia's reflections on their very last NCAA VB match at Galen (around the 6:40 minute mark). On to San Diego for Regionals. FIGHT ON!
