I know there are probably hundred different threads on her already, but I'm not sure I've seen this posted anywhere.
I believe a long time back she mentioned how much she wanted to r in the Olympics, and she did accomplish that goal in London. However with all the stuff that has gone on and her not training with the National Team anymore, is anyone surprised that she did not go back to train in High Jump? Is her love of volleyball that much higher? Maybe she is holding out hope that Karch will be gone after this Quad and someone else will let her come back?

It amazes me that some people think that if you aren't in the Olympics, you must not be playing volleyball.
Hooker is making a LOT of money playing club volleyball overseas. Way more than she could make high jumping.

I'm not an idiot.....I clearly know that she is playing overseas and doing quite well for herself, along with running numerous camps across the United States.
My point was that for someone who wanted to be an Olympian multiple times, I thought maybe she would try her hand at High Jump again.

My point was that for someone who wanted to be an Olympian multiple times, I thought maybe she would try her hand at High Jump again. Being an Olympian might be a dream, but it doesn't pay the bills, as they say. USA Track and Field athletes don't make very much money, either from their national organization or from sponsorships (which is basically just Nike at this point, because they bankroll USATF). Compensation in track is often confined to results--win and you get a prize, come in second, you get nothing. I don't know what Destinee is being paid to play overseas, but it's easy to surmise that it's north of six figures, and its a secure contract. Basically, why would you give up your financial security to toil away in obscurity as a high jumper? If it were me, that would be my reasoning for sticking with volleyball. The Olympics don't seem like so noble a pursuit when you'd have to take a massive pay cut to chase that dream.

There's a trend of players getting citizenship to play in the Olympics for other countries (the ones I remember are women's basketball players with Russia and a few others). Would Destinee do that? And if so, with whom would she play?

And if so, with whom would she play? Not saying she would ever do this, but I know she got to know quite a few of the Brazilian players pretty well when she played there pre-baby! Plus they would give her the best chance to win. So if anywhere, I bet she would play there.

If she finds a Brazilian to marry, if she can't naturalize on her own beforehand, could she play in Rio? The ultimate revenge because we know Brazil would win Gold with her. There couldn't be a better drama filled Olympic match.

She's playing in China this year. Can't wait to see her. Maybe she can join the China national team.

Zhu Ting and Hooker on the pins would be a great combo. Kim Yeon Koung and Hooker on the pins would be a great combo as well.
