I watched the Lambourne stream of Ross/Fendrick against Agatha/Barbara. First how awesome is it that an Olympian is just sitting there streaming all day and adding his commentary and thoughts. Can you imagine Chris Mullin or Shawn Kemp thinking to themselves, "fans have no way to see this, let me spend my whole day here filming so they can." Im a Rich fan for life now. Same. I really like his commentary as well. He's very calm and not over the top with it. i'm enjoying his commentary as well. excellent on strategy, execution & effectiveness. it's fun/nostalgic to hear him refer to "a real point." i would much rather hear him with mr sunderland instead of mr kevin whatever talking about "emotion blabla" .. but i'm betting he has other priorities than announcing. if anyone here has a chance to talk to him again - give him some encouragement if he might actually be interested. would be great to hear him replacing the FIVB cricket/tennis announcer.. lol

Brazilians win in the finals. I will prepare for the Nick bashing, but Phil did not play very well either in my opinion.

The Brazillians did what any team should do and served Nick and make him beat you. Phil played good but not great. The problem is unless Phil plays out of his mind this squad is not beating the top teams.

Neither one of them played very well and Brazil played solid. 6 FIVB tourneys in a row for Allison/Bruno? Is that a record on the men's side?

Nick and Phil were undefeated this weekend against the top teams in the world (including a win against Alison/Bruno), until the final....

I think Phil/Todd won 7 in a row. Smith/Stoklos won a ton in a row, maybe ten over a few years? Still an incredible feat. Phil/Nick has a great weekend. Except for the last match, they played aggressive, made some important strategic changes (higher set, Nick swinging more, Phil on two as a regular part of the offense), but that loss today was really bad. Doesnt eliminate the good work done, but does diminish it. 13 and 15 is an a## kicking. If I had to guess, I would say probably the worst non-injury loss Phil has had in a long time.

They showed a graphic at the end of the telecast that they had won 5 consecutive gold medals and said Fort Lauderdale would be six.. Maybe they were talking about Majors, because all of the ones they listed said Grand Slam or World Championships. Still very impressive, with rally scoring.

That was a one sided match. I cannot remember Phil getting a block. And Nick without a block just watched ball after ball drop more than 10-20 feet away from where he was positioned.
While not bombing his serve Phil still hit 4-5 out. They just looked under gunned athletically. The boys from Brazil looked powerful yet quick with a much smarter game plan. They just ran the middle like it was unstoppable.

I would have to take whatever streak Sinjin and Stoklos had in international play with a grain of salt. The competition back in those days outside of Brazil and the U.S. was not great.

So watch is the hope for Rio? I do not see anyone taking out one of he Brazilian tears for the gold but I think phl and nick can be in ply for the point with a good rule.

Yes, thanks so much to Rich Lambourne. Watched his Periscope TV feed off and on since Wednesday, including the entire women's gold-medal match on Sunday. Very much enjoyed Lambourne's commentary. He did a fine job, particularly with only one guy on the mic.

Lets a lot of teams off the hook

"Most important match of the decade" was my favorite. Allison/Bruno's streak is indeed awesome though. Phil and Nick have some relatively easy things to resolve that could put them in a better position and at this point, I think they should probably be considered a slightly better than even bet to make the podium in Rio. Not sure how much that changes if Nick resolves his passing issues and Phil consistently gets his serve in
