I think Inky will be back so I will stick to Stanford being #1. The future is now for the Cardinal.

When has anyone but last year's champion not been #1 (serious question)? I suppose it happens when the NC lost a lot of returnees. I don't think, as with football, there should be any polls until they hit the conference season. Otherwise, you end with "sticky" teams who don't move off the polls early enough. Couldn't agree more.

...or, like the NCAA selection committee, we could just acknowledge that the polls are meaningless and tainted by self-interest.

Stanford will be disappointed if they beat #1 Penn State in State College in September. They won't be able to do that in-your-face dance with their band.

While inky is a big blow to Stanford, they'll have the best setter besides Carlini and the best trio of pin hitters with lutz. I still like their chances.

Inky is a huge loss and yes Penn State took the title, but I think Stanford will top the ranking on the 12th.

IIRC Penn State lost four (4) starters including NPOY. Just saying.

Agree with MTC, Penn State lost 4 starters, all of whom had unique gifts. Not only POY Micha Hancock, who was a force of nature who often "willed the team to victory", but an inspiring libero in Dominique Gonzalez who could dig almost anything off the floor, as could DS Lacey Fuller. While they lost MH Nia Grant, she's replaceable. The first three I mentioned will be difficult to replace.
Megan Courtney is still there, and she is a player who is more than her stats, who approaches Hancock in her ability to rise to greatness in clutch situations.
