Top three non conference schedules seem to be Florida, Kentucky, and Texas A&M. Likely top three in conference at seasons end as well

Interesting to see Alabama so high. From what I recall, they finished 4th last year and Rivers should have another solid year but what caused the rise? Is their freshman class THAT good?

Is their freshman class THAT good? my guess is they are taking into account the loss of Holman and her impact for LSU, and O'Conner, the leading point scorer for UK last season, who graduated. I think Bama has the core of their impact players returning.

They are returning almost every player they had on the court last season. A lot of experience and two NCAA appearances under their belt... if any Alabama team is going to challenge for an SEC title, this may be the one to do it. I don't think they are going to be able to beat Florida but I can see them contending for 2nd place.

I just uploaded the last 18 years worth of SEC Preseason Polls for anyone interested. tennesseevolleyball.net/matchbook/secprepoll.phpIn the 22 years the SEC has been doing this UF has topped the poll 20 times. Tennessee took the other two.

I don't see Alabama at #2. Obviously Mary Wise gave them her vote though.
Not that it matters, but why does the SEC only include nine (9) players on pre-season team when all the other conferences have 12-15 listed? No Libero and only one OH.......interesting.
I would have taken Aiple over Dagostino as the second setter.

Alabama lost a MB who started a few matches but otherwise returns everyone, including two members of the (admittedly large) All-SEC team (Hutson, Rivers) and a POY candidate (Rivers). Leah Lawrence also had a standout freshman season last year. KY lost both O'Connor and Napper, both All-SEC players. I think Bama is a very good choice for #2 behind the Gators, and TAMU will be a distant fourth, imo. A little discussion of each team here, if you're interested: volleytalk.net/thread/59288/sec-2015-thread-forecasting-season

I am not disagreeing with that placement just trying to figure out reasoning with all starters including libero as well coming back? I don't think they lose to LSU this year and if they can stop the outside from Alabama from having a field day while shutting out Rivers on the RS then I think they could be second behind Florida this season. The non conference schedule is one of the best the Corbelli's have put together in quite some time. If passing/termination from OH positions can improve buy say 20% I would say they could be #2 in conference with a possible seed come NCAA tourney time to avoid going to Austin for the 17th consecutive year it seems

Thanks for posting that link as I missed it when it was being discussed. No worries at all - it disappeared off the front page in a hot minute. Too soon, I guess.
