Thanks Geddy.....Guess I didn't realize surgery was the main goal at this point. Everything I've been reading her quoting is they are not sure if it was going to require surgery or just rehab....thanks for the clarification.... My understanding is that her shoulder needs to be surgically repaired and stabilized. I hadn't heard that rest/physical therapy was another option on the table, but it's not like I'm on Walsh's medical team, so we shall see. Either way, the idea is to shut her down near term in order to the maximum amount of R&R time before making a hard push for Rio. I think the bigger issue on the table is actually being able to make a push when at Rio and that means having that shoulder as close to 100% as possible! They dont have their eyes set on getting there, its Gold or nothing!

Why not just register and forfeit out without playing then? I know they must know that they will most likely get enough events next year but events have been dropped from the schedule in the past.

Fopma/Hochevar lost to McGuire/Dowdy in 2 via "injury team A" Walsh/Ross currently up on Momoli/Cicolari ITA. Took 1st set 21-13. Looks like they aren't having much of a problem there Broder/Valjas CAN [9] vs Summer/Carico USA [16] coming up.

Carico & Summer take down Kerri & April. Even with the injury, that's a great win.

Looks like an easy route to the finals for Alison/Bruno.
Edit: jinxed?

Carico & Summer take down Kerri & April. Even with the injury, that's a great win. It really is. Summer must have one of the best match records of anyone against Kerri Walsh. Evandro/Pedro in the midst of a pretty bad slump. Their last 5 finishes, after a great start to the season, 5, 9, 9, 9, 9. For the 5th they lost to Allison/Bruno but all the others were bad losses. They were eliminated by: 1. 24th seeded Turks 2. Qualifier 3. 13 seed 4. Qualfier Whats worse is that in that five tournament run, they were eliminated in two games 4 times.

BTW I hate hate hate running a back set on game point for the other team unless your team is in a run of giving up points. If that is your best sideout play, you should be running it half the game. If it isnt, breaking it out on GP when you have done it once all game doesnt make a ton of sense.

Amazing that after five straight Grand Slam/Major wins, Allison/Bruno lose twice in an Open on their home soil to 1) a middling German team and 2) a young Brazilian team that can't even qualify for majors/opens.
