Tennessee - Red Hot - from the Final Four to frying pan, transfers abound, while success has been elusive recently for Rob, the Joan Cronan Facility is state of the art, but may well have new residents soon. Somewhere in there, Rob Patrick lives!

Whether it is deserved or not is a matter of debate, but the Atlanta Journal Constitution just "hot seated" Lizzy at UGA. "The firing of Mark Richt is the seventh coaching change by Greg McGarity as Georgia’s athletics director. The school and its fans can only hope it turns out better than the first one – or most of the others so far. McGarity was hired at Georgia in August 2010, when Richt was under fire, but McGarity’s first move was elsewhere: Less than three months into the job he fired volleyball coach Joel McCartney in the midst of a losing season (15-17 overall). The volleyball team had a winning record (62-55) in three-plus seasons under McCartney, though it was 29-45 in the SEC. The replacement: Lizzy Stemke, who had been a Nebraska assistant. The Bulldogs have had just one winning season out of five under Stemke (66-87 overall and 31-63 in the SEC). And the volleyball team just hit rock bottom this season: 5-25 overall and 0-18 in the SEC." Nothing like being the opening for a story about your AD's hiring history ouch! Why would it be unreasonable for a coach for a Power 5 conference team that just went 0 fer in the conference to be on the hot seat? You can not have both sides, the budget and salary of that level without expectations. If volleyball coaches want to be paid like basketball coaches then something that comes with that is expectations. Does that mean the Lizzy should be fired? No, but it does mean it is reasonable her AD should not have her in his office wanting know what happened, what she is going to do to fix it, and also let her know that improvement is expected for her to remain at Georgia.

Tennessee has apparently given Rob Patrick an extension.
Wake Forrest is looking for an assistant coach, which suggests that they are keeping their head coach. If anyone was worried about Todd at UCF, the same argument applies.
Rutgers new AD hasn't found the copy paper yet, and he needs to hire a football staff, so that job is probably pretty safe.
Georgia is dealing with a new football staff, as is South Carolina, Memphis and various other schools, so those coaches are safe-ish.
This could be a dull year after all.

Yeah. Black Monday came and went.... I figured there would be more news. But football seems to be the issue at the moment. Lots of early movement there!

Very possible - last year had such epic turnover - this could be a slooooow DI year; but I do know a BIG coach who is expecting some surprises - now what that means, they wouldn't say.

Not all that surprising. They haven't done very well. But that staff is some of the most genuinely nice people in the college coaching ranks. I feel bad for them.

I don't think any BIG TIME jobs will open up this year. Last year was so huge.. Lots of mid level stuff sure, but all the big ones will be staying put. I think

Surprisingly, the University of Arkansas program hasn't come under fire. When hired 8 seasons ago, the current coach was touted as a "world class"recruiter and quite possibly one of the best in the nation. Perhaps he is a fine recruiter but that obviously doesn't translate into head coaching ability or team success. Here are a few points to ponder: after 8 years at the helm, Arkansas has yet another below average SEC showing (currently 7-10 with one match to play). They have imploded once again after significant wins against 3 top teams. The coach has somehow managed to lead them to lose 7 of their last 10 matches and quite possibly an NCAA bid. After 8 seasons, one of the greatest recruiters in the country has managed to barely win 50% of his overall matches and is way under that mark in conference play. He has the talent on the bench, I mean after all, he recruited them but he can't seem to get them to sustain their effort. Besides wins and loses, one might question his ability to work well with the kids and coaches be brings to Arkansas. Point in fact, from the 2014 team, he had 4 of 6 freshman, 1 sophomore, and 2 juniors exit the program. Plus he had 3 coaches abort. 2 of them had been there for just 1 year. While these stats seem a bit shocking, history proves they are not abnormal for this leadership. It's past time for the Administration to do some "rooting" around in Woo Piggyville. Another disgruntled parent adding to the hot seat thread.........so cliché. I am not a disgruntled parent. I know Robbie and he recruited a player of mine while at UT. But with him and a lot of other assistants from Power 5 programs, can they recruit when NOT at a Power 5 program? Part of it is the product they have to sell, the other is can they assess talent properly to know what they can and cannot get and spend appropriate resources and time in the right area. That's the trick.
