You are 100% correct............Russ and his Penn st increidible success has put many coachs on the hot seat. Eventually one day in the not too distant future we will wake up and realize that RR and other greats like Dunning, Shoji, and Haley have all retired. Of course their respective schools have the resources to recruit the best coaches, but filling RR's shoes will be difficult as well as some of the others I have mentioned. No one will step in and "fill the shoes" of the hallowed coaches in the profession. At the same time, maybe the next group of genius coaches are just under the radar and waiting for the time and the space to learn how to be great after the legends retire.

Big12 changed all at the bottom except Texas tech. Baylor, tcu, and wvu all started anew. Everyone else has made the tournament lately and should be safe, no?
Usually the bottom of every conference are warm.

I don't know how much could be expected of Rutgers. Who are they supposed to pass up in conference? Even with a new coach?

I don't know how much could be expected of Rutgers. Who are they supposed to pass up in conference? Even with a new coach? Valid point, but with the right staff and the right support (which probably isn't there), it is possible to move up some, Indiana, Maryland, possibly Northwestern and others on a off nights. The issue with Rutgers is not going 0-for in the BIG, its not being undefeated in a fairly weak out of conference schedule. Cincy, JMU, Seton, Winthrop losses don't help you keep a six figure job, IMO.

Stealing JA's thunder I see.....here are my nominees: Rutgers - Red Hot - VT thought he was a dead-man walking last season and it will be hard to change that trend in the BIG Tennessee - Red Hot - from the Final Four to frying pan, transfers abound, while success has been elusive recently for Rob, the Joan Cronan Facility is state of the art, but may well have new residents soon. Middle Tennessee - Red Hot - max exodus including staff members has the administration less than thrilled, CUSA membership hasn't been overly kind to Matt, it maybe win or gone in Murfreesboro. DePaul - Red Hot - five years of eh, and a 3-27 record in talent rich Chicago makes this seat hot for sure. Wake Forest - Red Hot - only in his 3rd season hard to say if Ken deserves a red-hot seat, but having your name mentioned on ESPN's Outside the Lines in a less than positive manner will do it every time. Wright State - Toasty - success at Niagara hasn't flowed to Dayton, Clements has 13 wins in three seasons and that's enough to melt plenty of snow. Davidson - Warming-Up - 4-20 last season and one game over .500 in the other two seasons, Willis has to feel the temp rising. It remains to be seen if the A10 will be kinder this season. San Jose - Warming-Up - 4-27 last season, a VT favorite, how do you cool things down after a mass letting? You go all international. Time will tell if these relieves stress along the fault. Fordham - Warming-Up - 3-25 last season and 3 and 10 wins in the other two years plus seeming inability to keep a staff together. Probably deserves a red-hot, but its Fordham, those Jesuits are really patient. San Jose State is only 1 year in. They took three years at Bakersfield and I'd be surprised if they didn't get that here. It may be ugly but its the closest thing the trojans have had to a plan in a while. Fordham cannot get any better candidates until they increase the salary in that part of the world. What they need to do is find a less competitive conference because they lose in most sports. Besides, 6 freshman last year, they retained them all, they could get back to being a .400 team. As for calling for heads, can we please wait until Halloween?

Did you mean the Spartans or did they change the name of the team after getting rid of all the returning players?

Rob Patrick at Tennessee? How much longer can he last absent a big turnaround?

Bowling Green. A steady descent since 2012. Wrong direction.....this year will be the worst yet. Not a senior on the squad. As an Ohio resident and MAC fan, this is difficult to watch.

Rob Patrick at Tennessee? How much longer can he last absent a big turnaround? I don't think that seat is hot. I think it is dead cold. Unless a miracle happens, he is gone after this year

Odd thread for it, however. Isn't that the top 24? I'm not seeing any issues for the coaches of the above teams other than perhaps a cold toilet seat in the morning. But every problem has a solution ...

How about Dunning, with all of the talent he has he should be a lock for a national title...then again isn't that the way it is every year at stanford?
