WSU AD need to get out of Pullman for hiring Brian as a head coach and also for creating another Eugene in Pullman. Ouch with 0-4 in Pac-10 and 3-13................The darkest day in Pullman will not be lifted anytime soon.........Jim Sterk is creating another Portland State U. Get Mr. Sterk out of Pullman and get a new coaching staff that have the head coaching experienced for a once respectable program in the nation. Our beloved Cougars fans........the wheat fields along the highway to Pullman is more green this year----because of your tears that help keep it green!

I think that they'll be fine with a losing season in Pullman after the disarray that the program was left in. Brian will be a great coach at WSU. Tell m 101, how's Cindy doing at Iowa? Last time I checked they were still dwelling pretty low in the Big Ten.

Our beloved Cougars fans........the wheat fields along the highway to Pullman is more green this year----because of your tears that help keep it green! Let's see.. WSU was 9-20 last season and something like 7 players left the program before Cindy left to take over at Iowa. Brian wasn't hired until June, leaving him roughly two months (if even that) to do any recruiting for the 2004 season. Now you're whining that the WSU team hasn't won many matches this year and calling for yet another new head coach? Frankly, I hope you're not a typical WSU "fan". I'm guessing that you're not and the team ought to be calling for a replacement fan to fill your spot in the stands. At least WSU has been very competitive in the matches I've seen televised or watched via livestats.

Deep breath there Wazzu fans--it will be a long year. The cupboard was left pretty bare(Cougs down 3 potential upper-classmen starters...including a setter), and that really came back to bite Cougs this weekend--using liberos as setters with their one "actual" setter now out with shoulder issue. This is too bad, since Cougs have a couple pieces....now with setter out...Pullman will be in a Eugene-like drought.
Can you blame Sterk (or WSU Administration)? Maybe. Let the situation get pretty bad before making a coaching move, and apparently not willing to pony up the $$ to get a big-time coach. No offense to Hef--he just isn't a "name" that inspires confidence on the West Coast. He seems to have the pedigree to build something eventually and he was thrown into a tough gig. And the most "big-time" coach would likely not have been able to talk the players into coming back, or kept the one setter from getting dinged up.

Dude,
Your all alone, and up crapola creek without a paddle, trying to make your point about the WSU program. It's time to cut your losses.

Brian is a class act, very ethical, and a very good student of the game. When he was doing graduate work at LBS I used to sit and chat with him when he would come by and watch Brian's team practice. He also interviewed for the #2 assistant's job that was given to Joy McKienzie. I suspect that given a couple of years to recruit his players he will do well!

Brian will do fantastic at WSU, he has the respect of every club coach in SoCal, that means a lot. Everyone knows how ethical, honest and hard working he is and what kind of program he runs.
That means a lot as players do rely on input from their coaches as they look to make decisions on their future. There are some college coaches that club coaches badmouth like there is no tomorrow, those coaches dont get a fair shot at recruiting that club's players.
Anyone in SoCal that saw the Renegades play knows what kind of coach Brian is.

Cindy left that program in complete disarray and as an absolute quagmire. Brian needs at least a couple years to rejuvenate what has descended into a soul sucking and spirit destroying environment.

I'm not ready to drink the koolaid yet.
I don't know Brian personally, but from what I know of him, I think he will be very successful in Pullman. I know he wasn't the first choice of many of the volleyball community in Pullman, and I think that is a shame. I really think Sterk made a good choice on this one. From what I've heard, there are other reasons to mistrust Sterk...Hef will need to watch his step, I think.
101, don't panic...great volleyball will return to WSU.
On another note, while they have a big mountain to climb at Iowa, I know that Cindy is really glad to be there...look for them to improve as well.

They have as many Big 10 wins this year four matches into the season as they had all of last season. Not that winning one conference match is a huge deal so far, however, I don't think they got their only conference victory last year until well over half way through the conference matches.

Regarding Volleyball 101, Cindy was on the seach committee that was responsible for the hiring of your beloved Mr. Sterk.

With well respect from all SO-Cal Clubs....wow that ought to be worth a good happy meal at McDonald's ........So is Carl Ferreira is very well respect from california clubs. I know Brian is a super nice guy. Pac-10 is not a training ground for the head coach to be. Charisma and good talker does not always produce a winning coach. And most of the time a nice guy finish last.

So you honestly think a different coach could be winning with the hand Brian has been dealt?
Geez. Give the guy a couple of years, at least. Heck, he wasn't even hired in time for 2005 recruits!
Speaking of which, Cindy had NO ONE committed for 2005??

He is a nice guy, however I have never heard him spoken of as a good talker or as very charismatic...
