WSU AD need to get out of Pullman for hiring Brian as a head coach and also for creating another Eugene in Pullman. Ouch with 0-4 in Pac-10 and 3-13................The darkest day in Pullman will not be lifted anytime soon.........Jim Sterk is creating another Portland State U. Get Mr. Sterk out of Pullman and get a new coaching staff that have the head coaching experienced for a once respectable program in the nation. Our beloved Cougars fans........the wheat fields along the highway to Pullman is more green this year----because of your tears that help keep it green! I will respond to this right after I get done with class. Back off Heff and don't profess to know the Cougar fans. We'll all be okay.

Heffernan is quality material. He was a definite key to Hebert's success in Minnesota.
If what's-her-face had left ANYTHING in the program before she departed, you would need to be concerned.
She didn't.
If the program was a success when she left, you'd need to be concerned.
It wasn't.

Wow! Ease up!! We are only 12 matches into the season and people are already making decisions on whether or not he is a good coach based on what he has done at WSU. Coaching is not magic, you need the right players to be successful and he does not have them yet, so cut him some slack. He isn't the 1st and won't be the last young coach to take over a high profile program in disarray and struggle until he gets the team he wants and playing his way. GEEZ!!!!

Its 16 games into the season............ People i think i have to make it more clear....Brian sure will be a good head coach, but he is not ready for Pac-10 yet. At the same time i wish him a very best, but when you lose to Oregon in 3 in Pullman is bad...better yet--very bad! First win for Oregon either in Eugene or Pullman since 1990...... . i am not expecting our Cougs to win some of the Pac-10 this year, but against those schools in the preseason tournament-you got to win!

I don't think any coach with exception of Banachowski (who was pre-awesome Pac-10) is ready for the Pac-10 until they have at least a full season under their belt. If you had any clue about the program, you'd know more than that Oregon actually won in Pullman, you'd understand the dynamics of the team at WSU and how they were without their ONLY setter and had a DS who hadn't set since high school in at setter. Not only do they lose experience at setter, they lose passing to the setter. There isn't much you can do in that type of situation, especially when their roster is so slim on talent. Now, Coug fans, I don't mean it a knock on the players that they are not talented, I just mean they aren't as talented as the rest of the Pac-10 teams who've chemistry from AT LEAST the Spring season together!!! Losing to Oregon _IS_ bad, but at least WSU has an excuse, unlike Oregon has had in the past X years. So... tell me about Iowa, Volleyball 101.

Her face happened to be Cindy, YES CINDY. Bohler gym will speak volume of CINDY when you walk in there next time. I know all of the current WSU Players, they can win. Go Cougs! IDboy...........from what i know Iowa is doing ok! more wins than all of last year so far.

IDboy...........from what i know Iowa is doing ok! more wins than all of last year so far. Well, they have more non-confernce wins than all of last year anyhow. The have the same number of conferences wins so far as they had all of last year. They might have a chance of pulling off a few more conference wins this year with Northwestern looking pretty weak again this year and Indiana not showing too many signs of being decent.

101 what kind of axe do you have to grind with Jim Sterk? It seems to me that he is your target with this thread rather than the WSU program, though you have insulted Coach Heffernan in the process and this is upsetting to me. I'm just a WSU student and an avid Cougar fan, what's your connection?
Before this season began, the WSU faithful knew that Heff would have a big challenge ahead of him. He was dealt a young team riddled with injuries, who were emotionally bankrupt after having half of their teammates and the entire coaching staff abandon them over the summer.
Initially I was very disappointed when we lost to Oregon, but remember this is a team that took a game from UW and is above .500 for the year. In WSU's defense, our stand-in setter is 5'3" tall and hasn't set a game in four years.
My heart aches for the team because they're struggling right now, but no one close to the program is going to shed a tear. I'm elated that Brian, Kevin, Jody and Kevin Marts are coaching the Cougs and they have already done more for this team than could ever be measured by hashmarks in a W column. WSU will be a nationally competitive volleyball program, mark my words, but it will take time. I speak on behalf of all the Superfans when I say that Heff has our support and is the man for the job!

I think that you definitely have to give the guy a chance to recruit some players before you can judge his performance. It is bad not having a setter, but it isn't his fault. I think he just has to focus on developing his players as best he can this year. As far as Iowa, they didn't even win a game in the first half of the Big Ten season last year. Their first was against MSU, and I think it was in the 13th or 14th match of the conference season. They beat a beat up Purdue team in five for their only win. They do have a chance to win more matches this year. Indiana is looking bad for the most part, but they did almost win at Michigan, so you can't take them too lightly. I also hope the Badgers don't take their "F" game to Iowa City, or they could make it interesting.

Mr. Volleyball 101, your vendetta against the current WSU regime is not only wrong, it is mean spirited. What happened? Were the free season tickets you previously received revoked? You have coaching staff and wonderful players at that school doing the best they can.

101, I'm a little suprised at your attitude towards the new coaches...although I can understand your disappointment at losing to the Ducks. Maybe it's just the language thing...
Evan, keep up the good work...It's fans like you that make Cougar volleyball what it is and always will be...even during the down years.

If you're going to speak the "truth," expect some of us to say that you're being really silly.
Heffernan just got there. He's a great pickup for WSU. Iowa is not going to be any better with Frederick at the wheel.
