I agree Courtside5. I think she's going to do great KNOWING that she is the starting setter at the moment. She only had one day to mentally prepare, going from that supporting role, to running the entire offense. I thought she did great towards the latter stages of the match, so she's already on the upswing. Kenda had 4 and 6 blocks in the two nights she started.... how much more of an upswing are we expecting. Tai is still Tai but the offense seems to be working on all cylinders? Cheeezzee.. 1. This was Kendra's first start ever. 2. If you read my other post in this thread you'd see that I praise every other aspect of her game. Her SETTING (she is the setter you know) can be improved upon.

UH played different opponents on back to back nights. Not an easy thing to do. Each opponents have different strengths and weaknesses. I'm sure some of the girls still had Fullerton 's scouting report in their brains.
UH had almost no time to focus on Riverside since they must focus on Fullerton first while Riverside last played on Wednesday and had two days to prep for UH. Not even sure UH had any practice after the match with Fullerton.
I thought UH did well under the circumstances.

Dave Shoji did not seem happy tonight with the play, or effort, by the Wahine. He was standing all match with his arms crossed and a not a pleasant look on his face. I am expecting some very tough practice sessions this coming week. He wants to see the Wahine play like a Top 10 team. The first two sets they did not, the third set they sort of did. Oh jeeez man c'mon already. Wahine were playing without their 1st string setter and Kalei went down early. Basically playing with one hand tied behind their back. 2 starters out and they still spanked UC Riverside. Over critical, you think! Not necessarily, when Dave Shoji mentioned the same thing when interviewed after set 2, before going into the lockerroom.

Hope to see more of Castillo. She is starting to remind me of Lily Kahumoku, with her all around game, passing, hitting, blocking, and serving.

No, not nuts. Whenever Castillo has played the front row, she has put down at least one kill. Whenever she has served, she has gotten at least one ace, or made it a very difficult serve to handle. Shows that she has a good all around game, with a tremendous up side. She will be a player that Shoji will find difficult to keep out of the starting lineup, next year.

hope kendra improves fast What are you talking about? Kendra is fine. You do know that she came in sets 4 & 5 against Florida and did well. Btw, who won that match again? Oh yeah, the Wahine. That's right! against florida great we won congrats to koelsch in that match. in this match the setting to the middles were inconsistent, the outsides were moon balls. she did great on blocking though. FOR ME, i'm looking for her to take this time to improve with connections. if you saw differently and that her setting doesn't need improvement great congrats to you.

Just saying she's only been a starter for one game. She's allowed to have a shaky start. She will run the offense like a purring kitty just give her a couple more matches to get settled.
