Egads. The Monday poll may be kaddywompas.
First, PSU and Hawaii.....because every thread ends up being about them.
But the upsets. It's enough to give a fan the vapors.
Penn State loses. Not only loses...but loses at Rec Hall where they've always handled giants like Niagara, Navy , Binghamton and York High. They were up 2-0 but lost to a team so bereft of talent they had to recruit two sisters from the same family.
Is Russ Rose on the hot seat? Warner Bros. wouldn't keep the Roadrunner around if that coyote kicked his ass, no matter how many times he won the Acme trophy.
Speaking of hot seats, has the Stanford AD reached out to Terry Liskevych?
Stanford is at .500 in conference. That hasn't happened since Condi Rice roamed the Farm. Oh, sure, all the players are still in Mensa. But being smart and getting 50 six-figure job offers on graduation day only goes so far.
Florida is a hot mess with dysfunctional leaders. And the University of Florida volleyball team is a basket case too. Raise your hand if your team wants to play Florida next.
Will Florida drop out of the top 10? Will the school disband the volleyball team? Do fans still think their coach is wise?
Does Oregon take an AVCA nosedive? Doctors are monitoring J-Moo's blood pressure.
Is Go Big Red going to be #1? Is ASU on track to win the PAC? Should Texas be on top until they flame out in the semi-finals? Is Ebony Nwanebu having second thoughts about ditching USC?
What's your poll prediction?

Hawaii should be number one or all of us Hawaii fans will revolt and say how much the AVCA hates us, how much we don't get respect.

Oregon will be out. Sad but fair.

Wyoming will probably drop out. They just lost to Nevada 3-2

IF Southern Cal beats Washington on Sunday guess who could be #1? Pointless to predict until after the UW @ USC match. Or you'd have to make two entirely different predictions.

Penn State will be #1 only if Anna Allison is voting

IF USC Wins vs UW then I think...
1. USC 2. Nebraska 3. Penn State 4. Arizona State 5. Texas
Feeling for Stanford. Those seniors had such high hopes for a good season. There's been talk of them contending for a national title this season since their sophomore year.

Pablo says that the USC/UW match is between #1 and #2, so almost certainly pablo will say that the winner of that match should be #1. We can be reasonably confident that if USC wins, the AVCA will vote them at #1. But if Washington wins (at UCLA, then at USC), will the AVCA jump them up to #1? Very doubtful, even though they probably should.
By the way, pablo is predicting about 70/30 that USC will win. And pablo doesn't even know that the Huskies' leading hitter for this season went out with an ankle injury against UCLA.

If I had to guess, I think a UW win at USC would mean the rankings would look something like.. #1 Nebraska #2 Washington #3 Penn State #4 USC #5 Arizona State #6 Texas Either way after USC vs UW there will be 2 undefeated teams in the nation. Whether or not one of those teams will be #1 is another question. I think it is safe to say though that Monday's poll should have Penn State knocked from #1 and Arizona State should also move up a bit. Texas remains a question mark given that they have not played a very challenging schedule so far.

There's been talk of them contending for a national title this season since their sophomore year. I might consider 1. USC 2. ASU 3 Nebraska 4. PSU 5. Texas I'd still think PSU could end the season on top with their talent. I think USC & ASU should be on top (now) because neither has lost. The Texas loss to Florida becomes more of a head scratcher given what Florida has done since.
