NW can't get anything past the badger block right now.

Has Gillis been doing well passing and defense to make up for her weaker offensive ability?

Too many hitting errors in that set, as hitters took more chances with the lead, but very comfortable in the end. Tionna ends it 25-19. Williams was a force on the block this match.

Another difference in this match. 4 serving aces. Our service game is ratcheting up as well.

UW hit 0.245 (41-14-110). Those errors in the last set brought that down. The middles were less of a force in this match. R. KRISKOVA 9 2 20 .350 T. WILLIAMS 6 2 13 .308 K. BATES 12 3 33 .273 H. NELSON 5 2 14 .214 L. CARLINI 3 2 7 .143 L. GILLIS 6 3 23 .130
NW hit 0.138 (38-22-116) Slater with a good game, but little contribution that last set. M. SLATER 7 0 11 .636 T. TASHIMA 3 0 7 .429 R. FARA 5 1 14 .286 S. ABBOTT 10 8 27 .074 K. MORIN 7 5 30 .067 S. LAVIN 6 8 27 -.074

Tionna...they've been working really hard on closing to the pins in practice. Feels the team is clicking, chemistry is going well, connection on court is better.
Blake: Best passing match of the season. Serve was not so great in first set, but got better as the sets wore on. Romana took a while to get her timing down. Working on hard on her in transition. Moving Bates around a lot these days, frees her up. Block got better as the match went on. Adjusted well to what NW was doing on the attack.
Kt. Cohesion looks much better than earlier in the season, everyone seems to understand their role much better, and it's allowing them to make better decisions. They are looking comfortable.

OK...that looked like a real team out there this match. I actually find this match more compelling than the Illinois match. Sure Illinois is a better team, but it would be so easy to have a mental letdown on a Sunday match against an unfancied, but really scrappy opponent. The badgers did not allow that to happen, stayed focused and maintained cohesion. The block looks much better. The passing stayed sharp. The attack is diversified. The hitters were not pressing and were making good choices. We were picking up balls well in defense and effective in transition. Northwestern had to play a perfect match to get any traction, and they could not.
This match felt very much like one from last season...just taking care of business playing really solid volleyball. Actually, I remember having a lot less success against NW this time last year. They took us to extra points in Evanston.
SO we get out of the weekend 2-2 in the B1G. Only Purdue is loss-less in the B1G, AFAIK, and it looks like the hardest part of the transition is over. This is going to be an interesting next couple of months.

Does Kriskova have a chance at BT player of the week. 3ks per set Andy hitting ver .300 with a nice block per set avg.?

Has Gillis been doing well passing and defense to make up for her weaker offensive ability? Gillis is doing fine all around.

It must be a team day or something, along with the football ticket deal, as I'm seeing a lot of what appears to be teams. There was a $12 deal I think today, 4 tickets, 4 hot dogs and 4 drinks if I remember right. It was also dig pink day, that usually draws a crowd Also helped that the Packers played later
