Kt Kvas, a former Badger, does commentary for some home matches on the radio broadcast, if I am not mistaken. I wonder if the passing stats for the Badgers are a bit different from those for other teams, as Carlini can make sets that are not options for most setters. If memory serves, she did that today setting Nelson for a kill on the slide on a ball that was close to the three meter line. She also excels at back sets against the grain when she gets pulled left. I also wonder if they score for Carlini differently than for other setters. But the passing was better yesterday even than the Illinois match. Passing is based on a 3-point system by the coaches. Three is perfect (ie - three options on offense); two is two options; one = one option; and zero is getting aced. I'm guessing she is getting something from the coaches stats.

Of course she is getting it from the coaches, but the point is Carlini's able to create options that others setters cannot. In other words, an out of system 1 pass could be a two pass for Carlini because she can force it back 20 feet where other setters may not be able to.
