Interesting!!!!. Two teams that have quietly climbed in the polls; Hawaii and Kansas (WAY TO GO!!!) Hawaii was a preseason, #18 and now ranked #8. Kansas did not appear in the Top 25 until week #2 when they were ranked #22 and now in the top 10 as the 10th ranked team. Has anyone seen Kansas play? What's the 411 on the Jayhawks? Are they for real? They are undefeated so far, but have yet to play a name brand team. I think the teams around them (Ohio State, Minnesota, Hawaii) would beat Kansas in 3/4 sets. They haven't played anybody good yet.

HuskyDawgPack, I like your regional draws matchups very much. I see you went ahead and included Kansas and Hawaii.

Kansas has been quietly taking care of business. I am not going to bring up the "Who have they played?" argument. I hate when other posters make that argument about Hawai'i so I am certainly not going to be a hypocrite by making a similar argument. With that said, Kansas has some good wins (Arkansas, Duke, Wyoming). I am interested to see how they'll do against Texas and Iowa State later this month. I have no problem with Kansas' ranking. They played and beat every team on their schedule so far, they've earned it.

What would your top ten look like? Last week Stanford beat a top 15 on the road, then lost in 4 to a top 10 (now a top 5) on the road. All the top schools who had a loss last weekend either stayed at their previous rank or moved down a bit, except Stanford, who actually moved up a notch. Stanford will be ranked somewhere in top 10 at the end of the season, but should not have been this week. It really makes no sense to me when people complain about the rankings, but then offer no better alternative. I respect you if you can offer what your top ten would look like. But if you simply complain but have no better alternative, then I can't really respect that. Stanford moved up because Illinois lost twice, fell below them. Florida was also right next to Stanford last week, but also lost twice. Sorry if this is too complex for you.

Are they for real? Any others?? I watched them play, looked really good. They are slightly under-sized, but they have an OH who has amazing hops, possibly second only to Rhamat Alhassan. I loved their setter, Havili, who plays great defense, is super quick to her spots, and sets a great game. Also has great energy. I thought they looked very polished, no glaring weaknesses. However, their litmus test will be against Texas. Then we will really see what they are made of.

So I was rational when I said Stanford should be 7 The current AVCA poll doesn't confirm your argument. It merely confirms that much of the voting coaches are as irrational in their placement of Stanford as you are.

So I was rational when I said Stanford should be 7 No, you just proved that the coaches are just as irrational

It merely confirms that much of the voting coaches are as irrational in their placement of Stanford as you are. Where would you put Stanford in your ranking? They are a top 8 team and that is saying something considering the issues they have faced thus far and please don't tell me you were thinking Hawaii should be ranked ahead of them. I like Hawaii but they haven't played as tough a schedule. Just to put things into perspective for everyone who is in doubt of Stanford look at all their losses. 3 of their losses are to teams receiving number 1 votes in the current poll, 2 of those teams are undefeated ASU and USC. All top 5 teams. 1 of those losses is to North Carolina on the road and that team is receiving votes. Stanford has no bad losses and some good wins. They have beat the current #11 Minnesota, #13 Illinois and #14 Arizona. So now tell me why does Stanford now deserve to not be in the top 10 or ranked so high.

Please. While I don't think PSU should be ranked #1, it's extremely difficult to compare USC, Texas and PSU at this point and an argument for PSU (who only has one close loss and victories over 3 top 16 teams) is not totally absurd. Picking Stanford number 1 over an undefeated PSU team that just SWEPT them, is absurd. To each their own, but I think continuing to pick a team that was just beat at home, two of the sets not even be close, #1, over an undefeated team who just beat a top 5 team, and also has wins against #7, #12, #16, and #20, 3 of them on the road (whereas PSU is all at home), is pretty absurd too. I'm not saying it's the SAME as the stanford vote, but I surely think both are unjustified. Without a head-to-head result, I could see a voter looking at results against common opponents. PSU swept Stanford. USC beat Stanford 3-2. Under that microscope - I don't think it's necessarily "absurd." Again, I agree that USC should be #1 at this point. I just wouldn't compare the Stanford vote to this situation.

I think this would make a damn near perfect regional draw 1 USC 16 Wisconsin 8 Hawaii 9 Ohio State 5 ASU 12 UCLA 13 Illinois 4 Nebraska 3 Penn State 14 Arizona 11 Minnesota 6 Washington 7 Stanford 10 Kansas 15 BYU 2 Texas this looks good to me every single match up would be a fun game to watch

Its open season in the NCAA volleyball world looking at the current top 16. I think any team could make a deep run and win the national championship.

That would make it a brutal second round match if Florida starts getting their $*#t together again. LOL!
