I am laughing so hard right now. At least the people on this page are consistent. I only wish I had a daughter playing at OU or Texas Tech. Neither program will beat Texas and I know my question has nothing to do with either of those two coaches. So those of you who think that is the case can take a deep breath and relax. Lets see how many on this site can mix apples with oranges and get completely away from the topic. Again, thanks for those who actually tried to answer the questions. Thanks for the creativity to the others. It definitely made me laugh out loud. So this site actually has a purpose. Finally, if I wanted to vent about a program that would be very easy to do. One point for sure is that bad coaches eventually get fired; just ask the TCU coach, Mississippi State Coach, ND.... Yes, I do have my own views based on experience and observation. What amazes me is the mean, morally bankrupt Coach who actually thinks he/she is a good coach and is not part of the problem. I just wanted to get others perspective. As usual, no new surprises here. To summarize again based on the posters: (1) those who have no substance but can criticize grammar; (2) Jokesters; (3) Those who raise the :I am mad at a program/agenda"; (4) bingo-those who actually try to address the question with substance; and finally (5) Those who attack the poster. You can usually follow most threads and this common theme is in play. hmmm ... i'm beginning to think this wasn't about some terrible coach ... i think he was trying to make a point about how terrible we all are on this board! and we fell for it! not only are we terrible ... we're idiots too ...

Voldemort gets results and parents keep sending their kids there. In the end, it's their choice. People are just jealous of Voldemort's success and any complaints are the result of a conspiracy to take down his club. I think they were referring to someone at UT (either one lol), WF, or Neb. but just guessing. would rather comment on the thread "I cannot believe XXXXXX will ever succeed at turning the program around because he/she does a, b and c which alienates everyone." That would be entertaining because people could have opinions on each side. Especially in this world where a football coach cannot even slap a kid on the helmet that has just royally screwed up let alone call him a x(($#@. And when women are involved it seems that raising your voice at a bunch of people costing your school $90k a year because they still cannot remember their position is "over the top". People need to get a little tougher.

Hawaiian Ohana, I need to meet you sometime. But just for you: bahahahahahahahahahahahaha:) And you are correct to a point. Some of this gets a little bit over the top at times over a game that the players should love and when they leave the game should carry that love with them. For many reasons that love is lost at the D1 level. And the posters on this site can be a trip.
Thanks to vbgirls2 you get the star for actually addressing the issues, and by the way I do agree with your points.
I did think about putting together a list of coaches but not my purpose here. I know many like to name names and create lively discussion but not my intent to call out a specific coach or program. The bad coaches know who they are deep down inside and it will only be a matter of time for them when they are fired. I suspect they were taught the Golden Rule but somewhere along the way they lost that perspective. For many of these coaches they think it is all about winning. They will tell you that to your face. It is all about winning and nothing else matters. It is almost a badge of honor. WOW to that comment. The means to the end justifies the anger, the lies and manipulation. The problem with their rational is they do not win. At least the great coaches that I have known, know it is more than wins and loses. The great coaches never looked at it in that light; again my perspective.
And believe it or not I am not angry and if you knew me you would know when I get angry. Not a pretty act to see. Just observations from going to matches, hearing comments from other parents and past experiences with good and bad coaches. Just observations that I have experienced and seen and wondered how such bad coaches could exist in this day and time. And I am not advocating that all players are angels. We can see how that is working out at Texas with their football program. Someone needs to teach those kids common sense and to shut up.
As to timing of this post, just struck me this morning and really wanted to see what people thought who have an interest in this game. After the initial responses, it morphed into something more. Have a good evening, I think I have made my points.

I do not understand why you just do not post the name of the person that you view so critically? Many posters here do that usually about Cook or Jerritt or mick but it brings out strong arguments on both sides that are usually pretty entertaining. Personally, I still like to go back and read the comments from the complete morons that felt they knew more about vball than Haley and how he would be fired like Lane Kiffin. Ironically, I am one of the people that believe Kiffin is a complete tool as a coach but have to admit he does a REALLY great job as an OC for the Tide. If you're really curious, it's pretty easy to check this poster's history and find two coaches with whom he has had issues in several posts.

Good luck chasing that rabbit trail. Alice, Alice lets see where this trail leads. Bahahahahahahaha! To funny. Go ahead and make my day bahahahahahahahahaha. On a serious note, why do we tolerate abusive behavior from Coaches? You all know about the behavior, why do we let it continue? Give that some thought tonight and especially if you have a 12, 13 or 14 year old DD who is starting to enter this world of volleyball. Do you really want to subject her to that pain?

For starters, define abuse. For nexters, how can we separate rumor from truth, legitimate concerns from personal agendas?
Not easy.

Athletes respond to different types of coaching. The trick for a coach (and a player) is finding the right match -- and separating recruiting from actual coaching.
And sometimes it has nothing to do with the coach. It can be the teammates or the facilities, or -- heaven forbid! -- the school.

You know, I was pretty okay with my teen getting some harsh words and criticism, instead of "you're doing great honey" when she repeatedly do the same thing over and over and over and over again....pay attention! The world is not here to be your cheerleader Really, it's not just some coaches who are bad at their job and go on a tirade...it's the other people who I shall call senior management who have poor people skills but bring in the money. They won't get fired until they cost the company money. So that leaves folks with the decision to go home and drink every night, or quit. Simple really.

The OP seems to be changing their topic or may have confused their points. There are no 14 year old girls playing NCAA volleyball. Not one. And if you think that some school is going to "pay" someone $40-100,000 per year to play a sport and then NOT provide constructive criticism you should change your screen name to Pollyanna. One large problem people seem to have is figuring out the difference between someone that is demanding and has expectations that must be met and someone who is "abusive". Telling someone they are dogging it and are a lazy sack of pooh is not abuse especially if that lazy person is taking $100,000 in university resources that someone else deserves.

I think it was Bill Murray playing Woody Hayes and he was playing checker with his wife (I think it was Gilda Radner) and she double jumped him and won and he got up and punched her.........that was so hilarious (at the time)
