Honestly, it's really hard to judge where Nebraska is because Illinois was simply awful. That's a legitimate argument. The same will probably be said after the Huskers beat PSU too. Ohh...ok.

Does anyone else possibly sense a connection between Amber's cheetah print headband & her increased level of "fierce-ness" as of late? ?

Does anyone else possibly sense a connection between Amber's cheetah print headband & her increased level of "fierce-ness" as of late? ? But can a Cheetah overcome a Lion?

"Nebraska" and "under-the-radar" are antonyms. Debate all you want to but......can you remember in past years when a Nebraska thread had only five pages after a big game? You think the number of pages a team gets on volleytalk makes them under the radar? Rofl!

I'm kinda lovin how Amber is takin over as of late-who's the better sister now? :-) Especially after all the criticism from the volleytalk experts! You know who you are. I admit, I was a skeptic of Amber early in the season. She hit .261 over her first 8 matches (38 kills, 14 errors, on 92 attempts), while Haggerty hit .436 (30 kills, 6 errors, on 55 attempts) in the 4 matches she played in (before her injury), which includes the weekend in Austin. For a MB, .261 is just not cuttin' it. It's a different story now. Rumble posted she's hitting .514 over the last 9 matches? Only 5 errors? Over .750 against Michigan and Illinois? Over .500 against Purdue? Good stuff. I hope she can keep it up, and continue to have this kind of an impact.

If the coach is not going to show intensity, the players are not likely to either. You don't need a screaming mimi for a coach to get motivated. You guys didn't notice him getting intense during eh timeouts? If you think he seemed passive or unconcerned while the match was going on then you were not watching him when he called a time out BECAUSE he was reading them the riot act as they were coming off the court. IMHO he is a very good and concerned Coach. GBR

I think he's a great recruiter but I'm still skeptical of him as a coach (at least when talking about supposed elite coaches).

How many young coaches have taken their team to the national championship match? He has a .700+ winning percentage coaching in arguably the toughest conference in the country. I think most schools would be happy to have him as their head coach.

I consider him a bit young to have evolved into that class. Just an opinion. GBR

A comment about the timeouts... When Illinois comes off the court for a timeout, the team circled, not sitting on the bench, and they just kind of waiting around. There was not any pep talks, discussions, it seemed. (My seats are low by the visitors bench.) The coaches met separately with the clipboard, iPad, etc. when there was about 45 sec to a minute left in the timeout, Hambly would go to the girls and talk. I did not see any "reading the riot act" in sets 1 & 3., when they were on the visitor bench, Definite frustration when he pulled Poulter.
I noticed this style early on and just started paying closer attention. I have seen other coaches huddle separate from the girls but usually some Asst is with the team, and not for most of the timeout, just found it interesting...

Great job of adjustments by Coach Cook this year: With only three 'starters' playing the same position as last year (Fien OH, Hall MB, and Wong-Orantes L), he has put the pieces together nicely. And too think that this Husker team still hasn't reached their full potential yet. And kudos to Coach Cook's for his addition of the Tamases; Is there a better coaching staff in all of college volleyball? *Watched the replay and loved Nancy Metcalf doing the color for NET. A future full timer?
