In the international game, where the highest level volleyball in the world is played, the libero comes in for the middle. That has become a worldwide standard. Everyone else is expected to play six rotations, and to serve, pass, defend, set, and block at an acceptable level for their position. The libero is also not allowed to serve, so the middle has to be able to do that passably.
With only 6 subs, you generally see serving or blocking subs late in a set or an occasional double sub to get a front row attacker on the right late in a match. The mens college game and all professional indoor leagues use the same rules. And once a sub comes out, they cannot go back in until the next set. That is high level stuff, and what All-American players should be held to as a standard.
Being an All-American means you're the best of the best and among the elite players in college volleyball. It's hard for me to classify an OH or Opposite as elite when they spend half the match on the bench. It doesn't mean you're not good, just not an All-American.

Here's a good question: Hugh or Bechard as COY?

Here's a good question: Hugh or Bechard as COY? Is the formula for COY always just "give it to the coach who most surpassed expectations"?

I'm intrigued to see how the AVCA voters deal with Minnesota, beyond Santana. Kinda weird that the Gophers have two players who were named national player of the week this season and neither of them was named Daly Santana (H-Tapp by AVCA, Wilhite by ESPN).

Here's a good question: Hugh or Bechard as COY? I think you have to go Bechard. I mean, it's Kansas! Hugh has done a great job though. Mick would've been right there had USC made the final four

Even Carlini - who led her team to a NC appearance - didn't get first team her freshman year.

Was conteplating Hodson, but SSS will win Freshman of the Year, and was thinking Kadie, but don't know if she has the stats yet.

Kadie Rolfzen will be 1st team though (Wahine missed her).

Amber Rolfzen sure is one of the best right now. She's a bigtime stud.
