KHON Hawaii/Penn St News Highlights It's funny watching how teams celebrate after beating Penn State - it's like they won the National Championship. Congrats to Hawaii, I wish them the best. haha ... well, hawaii celebrated the exact same way when they beat texas a&m last week in any case, this was a big win for the hawaii program, so why wouldn't they celebrate? shoji talked about this in the post-game after the tamu win. that was an important win for the program, getting past the 2nd round hump. hawaii hasn't been past the 2nd round in a few years now (since 2011), and a couple more years beyond that since they were in the elite 8 (2009). none of the players on the current roster have been past the 2nd round. every win is a big win for these players and the program, especially for an unseeded team who just knocked off 2 seeded teams (one being the 2-time defending nat'l champion) to punch their ticket to the elite 8.

You do realize I wasn't making fun of the Wahine, hence my well wishes for all the teams going forward. I just remember watching how Northwestern celebrated when they beat PSU in 5 sets about mid-season; it was very similar to HI's celebration.

If I may take a quote from Jim Leahy: " Excuse me while I kiss the sky!"Wasn't that quote actually taken from the lyrics of Jimi Hendrix' song "Purple Haze?"

In his post game quotes last night, Coach Shoji was as humble, and proud, as could be. A really, really classy guy, and program. Big congrats to the Wahine (which the PA announcer pronounced "WA He Knee") and good luck.

I'm very happy my Wahine got past Penn St even in a sweep. This is a big accomplishment for Hawai'i and I'm so proud of them. Anyone who beats Penn St. should be very proud because Penn St. has been beyond amazing and unstoppable for the last 8 years. Great season to the Lions and also to the Seniors. I'm also happy 3 out of 4 of my teams are in the Elite 8!....I'm a HAPPY CAMPER! Go Bows! Go Huskies! Go Lady Longhorns! CHOOO HOOO HOOOOOOO!

Coach Rose after the match:
"I'm not disappointed in losing, we've had a season where we were not having this press conference," head coach Russ Rose said. "We have to keep our heads up. If another team beats you, then you give them the credit they deserve. Hawaii played terrific tonight."
