So you're guessing LeGrand is back on thee bench? She filled in nicely last year as a serving sub. Any word on how practices are going? Abril back on the hardwood? Will she be able to make the adjustment back to indoor, or will this turn out to be another Strange event? Do the Trojans have anyone on the roster or coming in next year who will take some pressure off Botkin? Lanier's graduation departure will make her the focus of defensive attention. Depending on how the Libero plays this year, SC could have a very strong season. The talent is there, and I'm expecting good things. LeGrand might serve for a MB. If Baptista gets a DS I would assume it’s someone experienced in right back. Crouch wants his defenders to “read” as opposed to playing a position. If so, Abril’s beach training may be useful. Emilia Weske should be good and may slot in Lanier’s spot next year. But will Owes leave then? Or wait for her spot behind Botkin?

Not everyone wants to take 5 years, or do a jgrad transfer year. If she doesn't get more playing time it's likely she wants her usc degree in 3 years. With proper training, a #12 Sr ace should typically be on track to be a rock star by their sophomore year. It will be interesting to see if Schirmer, Owes, or Weske is next in line behind Lanier / Botkin.

Are both KL and BB healthy? I know Botkin was playing during the off season, so its fairly safe to guess she is. Schirmer did play some last year, and I understand that someone can't be judged by a few sets. I also understand freshman nerves, and being tossed into the lineup with little to no notice because of injury, but I didn't see much when she played. Hopefully she settles in and becomes the force she is capable of. USC has a very good lineup, and definitely has talent on the bench. If they remain healthy it will be a very good season. Stanford is the king right now, but I thought SC had every chance to beat them in Palo Alto last year. The Trojans seemed to tighten up as sets 1 & 2 came to an end. To Stanford's credit tough, they focused and took care of business. With a little more spark and confidence, who knows what awaits this year.

Don't assume that student-athletes are ONLY after playing time when they choose a college. While I'm sure all of them want to be on the court, there are often enough athletes out there that want to be part of something and are working hard - but just because they don't make it onto the court for X number of X or whatever doesn't mean they are immediately looking to go somewhere else. Goodness gracious. Do you all leave your jobs the moment your boss tells you you did something wrong?
If I had to guess right now, starting lineup for 2019 would be:
OH: BB/KL RS: EB MB: JG/MH S: RL L: AB DS: JA
Look out for Kalen Owes. She good.

Do you all leave your jobs the moment your boss tells you you did something wrong? No, but if my boss tells me not to bother showing up for work for 27 out of 30 days, I might start polishing up the old resume.

Not even close to being the same thing - and quite literally probably all that is wrong with the attitudes of young student-athletes these days. Being part of something, honoring your commitment, pushing your teammates in practice, learning, growing, getting an education - are all as important as playing in the games/matches. I'm willing to bet not EVERYbody at your office is a senior vice president but apparently, whatever job you do is worthwhile enough to draw a paycheck.

Is Crouch honoring the commitments that Haley made to her? It works both ways. First of all, student-athletes sign NLIs with institutions, not with coaches. If you’ve ever seen an actual NLI, it clearly states as much. Secondly, I assume you are insinuating that Crouch should honor Haley’s commitment to Schirmer... which you are implying is what? Guaranteed court time? I doubt that was expressed as a condition for the scholarship given.

LOL the same people talking about "honoring her commitment" are the same people who would leave their job in a heartbeat if their boss [whom they thoroughly enjoyed and agreed to take the position under] was abruptly fired and replaced with someone severely under-qualified.
