There are more athletic players, yes, but players like Megan Courtney and Daly Santana are also 6'1" and were wildly successful. I would like to see how Whalen's club play turns out, though. Sorry if it seems like I was dissing Whalen, definitely wasn't my intention, all I was saying was I don't know if she has what it takes to merit a top 10 recruiting grade Definitely didn't think you were dissing, just commenting on the size comparison. I agree with questions on where Whalen will end up based on prep play as she plays for a very, very small yet talented high school team.

I'd also throw in Chesney Mcllelan (Nebraska), Jenny Mosser (UCLA), and Brie Orr (Iowa). I'mean interested in watching Select 18-1 this year, and seeing how Martin, Mosser, and Hilley all do together Jaz Martin has loads of potential. She'll be a top 25 recruit on this alone, imo. Has a ton of developing to do though, so hopefully Jaz develops along a similar curve that Mosser did upon switching from Lights. Getting fed from Hilley should also really give her that extra confidence that she needs in her game to take the next step (or 2).

Just from the incoming Huskers, I know McClellan and Sweet were two of the most highly coveted recruits at their positions (MB and RS, respectively) based on the schools that offered them. No idea what that means for rankings. Likely at least one will be top 10 and both top 15-20. Maybe each fan base can shed some light on who they've offered or from whom they have received commitments. Both Chesney McClellan and Jazz Sweet will be top-15 players. The Huskers are sitting very good with one of the top OHs in that class too. Big time class for that cycle.

The state of Minnesota seems to a lot of top juniors. There's some great players in this class. The 16 class seems to Be one of the deepest in recent memory though.

High school awards and collegiate potential are two very different things

We all knew it was a very good class for middles, but after watching players like Lanier, Scoles, Hart, Haggerty, and Milana play against/with each other this weekend, I think it's very good on the outside as well. Lots of good bro's too.

"'She is far and away the best player I have ever coached,” Scott Jackson, her coach with the Minnesota Select Volleyball Club and the head coach at Wayzata High School, told PrepVolleyball.com. “She is at least a once-in-a-generation talent and probably a once-in-a-lifetime talent for me to have an opportunity to coach in my opinion. Her coachability and work ethic are just through the roof."' I love this quote from Select coach, Scott Jackson, given Hilley was only a sophomore. I wonder if this will still ring true given the talent on Select this year. She definitely spends as much time studying the game off the court as Carlini does. Yes, I said Carlini. Carlini, Carlini, Carlini.

Anyone know anything about Liberos for this class? I know there are players like Jayme Cox (MSU), Alexis Hamilton (Louisville), Martha Konodoff (not committed), and Halle Johnston (Iowa) that are talented.

The '18 class is loaded with: Nicklin Hames - S - 5'10" - Knoxville, TN Callie Schwarzenbach - MB - 6'4" - Kearney, MO Megan Miller -DS - 5'6" - Alexandria, IN

I'd also throw in Chesney Mcllelan (Nebraska), Jenny Mosser (UCLA), and Brie Orr (Iowa). Back to McLellan... those of you (especially Husker fans) who haven't seen her, make a point to do so. Cook is talking about her like she's a future Olympian. A 6'4" do-everything middle. FWIW, there are 2 Husker commits on that K2 18's team (Hames, the setter, is a 2018). There is also a younger Hames, a 2019 OH, who will be one of the top recruits in the country in THAT class. Yes, Knoxville. Go figure.

It's kind of Cook's job to hype his committed recruits...every news release about a player gives them a great chance to contribute as a freshman, and makes them a potential Team USA talent;) Saw her play a couple times and she has a great motor & moves very well!

I'd be interested in seeing a link to a written or video source where Coach Cook said something like that about McClellan. He's not allowed to comment about her until she signs the NLI.

Setter is real deal with plenty of pedigree. But overall I think you are being force feed what you want to hear. All three talented...setter is a difference maker.

I'd add Mima Mirkovic to the conversation. An ACL tear set her back last year, but now is back and better than ever. Also, she is the best passing outside in the 2017 class. And, at almost 6'0" now and a great arm, she ability to be great attacker in an up-tempo system.
