Agree that Payne will need to play backrow to seriously contend. I don't see HH getting it next year. Maybe her Jr year. Maybe Nwanebu if she comes back in full form? But IDK because she doesn't play backrow.

I think Nwanebu has a shot for sure. Her one game against Nebraska this year she had over 4 kps hitting over .300 with over 3 dps.

Carlini has a healthy lead in this race to start. Kadie Rolfzen is also in the mix.
As for anyone else, it depends on how well their team does.

I think if Carlini plays well all season and all tournament, if Wisconsin makes it to final four its almost a lock that its hers. Even making it to a regional final might be enough - as it was for Bricio this year. The AVCA will definitely need a strong reason to not give it to Carlini in her senior season.

As much as I dislike Coach John Cook I am predicting a Nebraska sweep next year with Kadie Rolfzen getting NPOY and Cook NCOY to go along with their back-to-back championships. The talent they will be putting on the court next fall will be truly impressive. They will have bench players that could start and excel for many other teams.

I'm curious at this point why most people still think Ajanaku is a better MB than Alhassan? Does it have to do with Inky being much better at hitting the slide? just curious as I have seen both play and I think at this point Rhamat's block has become ridiculously good. Rhamat in front of the setter with a good set is the best of any MB playing collegiately.

You can dislike someone based on their actions, and cook, has said things that or acted some way, to turn people off. Now that's not to say he doesn't get unwarranted hate. He does, and I don't think he's as bad as people paint him to be, not by a long shot, but does that mean we have to like the man?

POY candidates are the best players on their teams so I would not put Rolfzen on the list- Nebraska is balanced. Who's to say that Foecke, Holman or her sister will not have better numbers than her?
Carlini Taylor
Are the leading candidates heading into next season.

Carlini Taylor Are the leading candidates heading into next season. I could see Foecke in the mix over Rolfzen. Yes, they're balanced as a team but part of that was Foecke's inexperience. She kept getting better as the season wore on and put up great numbers in big matches culminating in being the final four MOP. I think her hitting numbers will only continue to improve, both cumulatively and in efficiency. I don't think she's the favorite going into the season but if Nebraska is as good as everyone expects next year, then her presumed numbers will keep her in the conversation.

Inkys performance in the regional final last year showcased her skills well. Her blocking is also good. Rhamat definitely has good stats and is an excellent player, but I think Ajanaku is better. She doesn't really need the most perfect pass to slay a ball

I'm not sure I buy Rolfzen as a favorite for POY either. For hitters, numbers matter for this award, and she is just not going to be the Santana or Bricio of that offense. There will be gaudier numbers coming from elsewhere - maybe from within her own team. That makes her path to the award more problematic. I can see a middle winning it next year. There are some truly excellent ones.
