UCLA has spring matches against LBSU and other schools. There is no info on their website. Does anyone know how the matches go?

Really excited to watch what this team play, even though I'm a Stanford fan. Formico and Felix are real good. I expect all three freshmen to start, as well. From what I've seen, Gates is real dynamic and Van Winden can crack the ball and play defense.

Definitely will affect their all-around/ball control game, but Jessyka Ngauamo is returning back to Australia and not gonna finish out her career at UCLA. It's a shame because I was hoping to watch her play this upcoming season and hopefully battle Buechler for one of the left side spots. This is also gonna be a blow to their beach team as well, as she was a major role player on both teams this past year. Best of luck to her, but what UCLA really needs is that reliable, big terminator

She is a physical player who can really pound the ball, and she has a lot of range and shot selection. She's also impressive in the back row

I think Van Winden is going to take UCLA a long way. The women's game has been really moving to a right side game over the last 10 years or so...or less. Before, it was where teams would put a hitter to fill in a spot, hope they don't make a major mistake and come up with a play or so. Not much focus was on the right side as much. With exception of some like BYU's Korie Rogers. I remember there being a really good one in the early 80's, but can't remember right now...but you get my point.
If you had a really good right side hitter, you were probably contending for a national championship.
In today's women's game, you NEED to have a good right side hitter to even contend for...well, anything. Hawaii has always been in the top 20, but their recent rise to the top 5 is Nikki Taylor.
The game has evolved to where the men are at and putting their best hitter on the right now. It's easier for out of set plays, D sets, etc. It gives teams a continuous 3, or 4 if you include the pipe, options when the setter is in the front.
Torrey Van Winden is going to be the best UCLA hitter for the next 4 years...if she can stay healthy. She has a track record of injuries, so I am really hoping she can stay healthy her entire career at UCLA. Because if she does she will lead this team to a NC. She will be a POY. She will be this generations Misty May (Okay, maybe a little over pump). But you get my drift. This girl is the real deal and she is playing a position that every single team needs to have dominate if they want to win a NC.
Katie at Nebraska Taylor at Hawaii Payne at Kansas Nwanebu at Texas Hodson at Stanford, now Plummer Jones at Washington
If Torrey can convince her sister Adlee to transfer over..watch out. I'm drunk right now..don't know why I said that. Ok..I'm done. I did pretty good considering I'm pretty plastered right now...holy crap...hahaaha

If Torrey can convince her sister Adlee [from Cal Poly] to transfer over..watch out. I'm drunk right now..don't know why I said that. Reasonable assumption. Would not be surprised if this occurred.

It was great watching her rise during the indoor season and do the same on the beach this past year. She will be missed. Wishing her the best!

Ngauamo is listed on UCLA's updated roster for 2016. hmm interesting, i can't see it at the moment for whatever reason my crappy computer won't allow it on uclabruins.com (looks like a blank athletic webpage to me). But i guess that would contradict her recent instagram post (which I would link to here, but her instagram is private so I'd rather not) which stated that her 3 year journey here at UCLA will be coming to an end and that she would be returning to the land "down under" haha

I don't think she graduated yet, but she isn't trying to transfer to play somewhere else in the states, so I wonder what her plans are now. Maybe get in on the beach scene?

Please take into account that this is second-hand, but my understanding is that Ngauamo no longer wanted to play indoor due to all her knee problems and was looking to go beach only. But it was pretty late in the game, so to speak, and all the beach schollie money had already been allocated. She contacted a couple of other beach programs and got the same answer, so decided to pack it in and head down under.
