It is on their Facebook page that he coached the boys team in June. Maybe the Great Lakes Region cleared him to coach the boys team without USAV knowing, shoot them an email. I wish the tubes from my computer to the interweb were long enough to get an email to Great Lakes! Maybe you could just ask old Rick buddy next time you see him? It is not actually that hard to do your own research these days. Maybe make a phone call to the Region Office. Maybe ask the operator to connect you. And of course, now you infer that I know him personally. Typical response.

What makes you think I am new to the situation. My number of posts? There is just a certain childlike innocence about your posts. I'm sure your number of posts is as accurate and true a marker as the rings on a tree in showing your time here. I mean, it's not like this account is just one young branch on a much older tree full of many other branches. That just sounds silly.

And of course, now you infer that I know him personally. Typical response. Typical, but not wrong, eh? There you go again. Making assumptions, false accusations, and putting words in my mouth. But you are are wrong. I don't know him personally. I will help you since you may be to old to do things for yourself (based on you saying I exude a child-like behavior). Us young saplings need to keep the forest going. Contact the Great Lakes Region office. Here is the email address of Donna Smith Smithglrvb@gmail.com and Sandy Abbinanti sabbinanti@comcast.net or call the office at (630) 986-9000. That way you can see if the region cleared Rick Butler (not my buddy) to coach in the USAV sanctioned boys tournament. Or contact USA Volleyball at: Barbara Eisenbeis Email: BJNC@usav.org Phone: (719) 228-6800 That way you can see if Rick Butler (not my buddy) was a chaperone at USAV Nationals this summer based on team check-in records. I mean lets get the facts straight.

You should contact the Great Lakes Region. They have written letters on Mr. Butler's behalf for full reinstatement into USAV. Some of them have had family members go through the Sports Performance program and are now alumni.
His current GL region membership approved by USAV allows him to register as a Club Director for girls/boys, Team Chaperone for girls/boys and head coach status for boys. So nothing illegal according to one clearly uninformed poster who stated he was illegally coaching one of the boys teams in June.
I would hope that those in charge of this site would want to do some fact checking to ensure that when one of their members is reporting false information it is caught and corrected.
Opinions are never facts, they are just opinions which everyone has a God given right to, but outright lies should be unacceptable if you want to keep this forum at a professional level.

Lets post this aswell.
emailed statement, Butler told the Journal Star he has known Griffin for years and does "not want the regurgitation of allegations from the early and mid 1980s that were adjudicated over 20 years ago to interfere with what she is trying to accomplish."
"I was more than willing to step away from doing the camp since it has always been done as a favor to Maggie to provide the best training experience possible for her players," he wrote.

So @sbvb it looks like you were wrong about him coaching boys...
But we probably won't see an admission of that...

How magnanimous of him. More of the same predatory behavior from the infamous Rick Butler. Poor Rick, ever the victim. Sorry, folks, this guy has got to go. I love the sport of volleyball, and he has sullied it. For all the people who are in it for the right reasons, myself included, RB makes a mockery of it. What a jerk.

Brenda Tracy is an interesting and very sad story. She was raped by 4 young men 18 years ago. 2 were Oregon State football players, one was a recruit and the other was a CC football player. The doctors, nurses and DA all wanted to prosecute, but the victim didn't want to go through it and the case was dropped. Flash forward 18 years and Tracy finally is at a point in her life where she no longer wishes to stay anonymous. The then Oregon State football coach is now the Nebraska football coach (Mike Reilly). Reilly invites Tracy to come to Nebraska to meet with him for the first time, and to address his team. Tracy was alerted to the story about Rick Butler and shared the story with people she met at Nebraska, including Reilly, athletic director Shawn Eichorst and volleyball coach John Cook. On facebook Tracy cited a recent article on Rick Butler:

Who the heck is Rick Reilly? Not Rick, Mike Reilly. My mistake. I corrected it in the original post.

I look at the information from Brenda Tracy with a bit of skepticism. She is profiting from her "victimization"...she certainly isn't going around giving talks to football programs for free. I also would be wary of her talking to state schools, such as Nebraska.I would guess that she brings Jesus into the picture and that, at state schools, shouldn't be allowed.
