UGA had a very good preseason against a lot of cupcake teams. If they do as badly in conference as they did last year, though, I'm sure Lizzy will be gone. They are playing a little bit better this year, though.

I am working on my annual list of - well crap I got that sooo very wrong over the weekend. But my hunch is, last year was an epic year for the power 5 (ASU, OrSU, Ark, NW, WF, CO, TTU, NCSt etc.), this year will be quieter at the top, but very active in the mid-majors the carolina bus leagues. Only 3 of those 8 Power 5 moves came from "Hot Seats" based on wins and losses, the rest were "issues" and trickle-down, so the chances for an exciting offseason remain. Cal has to be burning at this point, and a move there could open 2 Power 5 jobs. The Bigs (10 and 12) may stand pat but I predict at least a few moves from the ACC (Syracuse and UVA are bottoming out, at some point Duke will wake up and realized they've been passed by, even if BC doesn't care) and SEC (doesn't Tenn need to make it back to the tourney at some point? SC in 6th year and no tourney or even sniffing it, UGA is in bad shape). The only way Duke will change coaches is if Jolene decided to retire at some point.

That's what people said about Kathy Gregory, Nina Matthies, and a few others I'm sure (although Jolene most likely has some time left). Rich Feller's seat has gotta be so hot, he's cancelling his tanning salon membership.

Fairleigh Dickinson (1-17 thus far, 10 wins in 2015, 6 in 2014, 5 in 2013), MTSU is burning right now Georgia, Clemson, BC, Indiana have to be hot after recent changes in those conferences Stoney Brook, Binghampton have to also be getting warmer OK, I think we're assuming that some of these schools actually care. But to your point: -Maybe FD -Georgia has had an odd set of circumstances with their setter transferring for family reasons and injuries. I bet Lizzie gets (and deserves) a couple years to recover. -Clemson just got there a year ago and still doesn't have their first full recruiting class in. Administration has to know the situation. -Not sure BC cares, but Chris has had some nice wins at a school that really doesn't support vb and in a tough region to recruit...and marginal facilites. -If Indiana cared at all, they would've made a move long ago. They obviously like Sherry and there must be zero noise around the program. "Stay out of our hair." -Do SB and/or Binghamton really care all that much? Those seem like odd schools to pick out. I guess I don't know enough about them or FD

Regarding Indiana - from what I understand, volleyball is a priority with administration. They recognize that the facility they have is way below standards for a Big Ten program. Once the new building is up (which I think will be in time for the 2018 season), expectations for wins will increase significantly. Until then baring no sudden transfers, issues or violations and the program continues to trend upwards... Sherry is very safe.

Indiana has some really nice 2018 commits. Bre Edwards is going to be a stud.

I thought we gave up putting Indiana on the hot seat list after so many years

McShane seems an odd choice for a new direction. Aren't McShane and Feller the same age too?
I'd think they'd go for Crosson or maybe Fisher if he makes the NCAAs this year.

Yeah, I'm not sure it's going to end up that way. Do you mean no McShane at the helm when Feller leaves? Feller won't last 2 years? I don't think Rich gets two more years unless the program has a miraculous recovery. I'm also a bit skeptical about Matt being handed the job. I also don't think McShane would necessarily be the right hire anyway, but that's a different subject. On the other hand, I really don't know Cal's new (ish) AD and how he works.

What's up with kordes and Louisville? One NCAA appearance and now this year losing to wake forest among others.
When did they change to the ACC?
Yes, they made the tourney last year and not anxious to list her seat as hot. But that's a nice gym, some easy recruiting trips, and a competitive yet winnable conference.

Rob Patrick has a contract through 2017. At Mick Haley is 100 years old and the football team is 2-3- St. Peter will call him before Lynn Swann does. Sherry Dunbar-Kruzan has a contract til 2017 and is married to the now-former Mayor who is still a local celebrity and an alum. Hernesman was only hired on March 5, 2015 and we've got him on a hot seat before he is assigned a dang parking spot! Duke not only lets their players take internships over the summer - they brag about them doing so, and you think they are going to fire Nagel because she lets her kids run congress and cure cancer instead of going to 5am lifts in June? That's not how Duke works! Does anyone know what Stony Brook PAYS their volleyball coaches? That's right, they don't pay them...not in Long Island dollars anyway.
And with half the schools in the ACC already mentioned, we now have the 2015 ACC Coach of the Year and Conference Champion being fired from her alma mater WITHOUT KNOWING THEY ARE IN THE ACC?!? Anne Kordes has been the COY in 3 different conferences in 5 years, 3 tournament appearances, and spend two years as President of the AVCA. She is NOT getting fired this year.
I know it's the volleytalk way but this topic IS DIFFERENT. Blindly speculating is irresponsible when it comes to firing somebody because you don't like 3-4 of their results this season (we realize half on Louisville's losses this year are to teams who will be seeded, right?). If you want to talk about job movement, talk about the hot assistants who you want to see run their own program! Talk about D2 and D3 coaches who are earning their chance to move up - and haven't already said no 7 times like Starky and McDowell. Or maybe you KNOW something and then by all means, but speculation does nothing but hurt people on this topic.

They have suffered their fair share of injuries and transfers, but they shouldn't be losing to some of the teams they are losing to. Their class of 2017 should provide them with some ball control (no. 60 senior ace) along with a setter from Chicago area. They also apparently have a foreign OH girl coming too. Hopefully things turn around because athletics are prioritized at Louisville.
