Well, I've seen the first two episodes of Westworld. My biggest questions:
1: What happened to Felix and Sylvester? Were they among the general slaughter?
2: Is there more than one copy of Bernard? It could be that the Bernard with the security team and the Bernard with Charlotte are the same Bernard at different times, but they might also be different Bernards.
3: Is Ford still around in some form or another? He either pre-programmed a complex game got the Man In Black or else he's reacting to what the MIB is doing.
4: At first I thought the implication was that they were using surveillance footage as blackmail material, but now it seems more like they were using it as market research. Either way, apparently the whole park was a data-mining operation.
5: Maeve and Delores meeting -- ships passing in the night or will their stories interact more in Season 2 than they did in Season 1.
6: I wonder if Maeve's god powers ("cease all motor functions") still work for her when they don't work for the staff.

Sam Harris' Facebook page has a fascinating ethical discussion linked to a NY Times article about the show and moral implications associated with cruelty to sentinent beings.
It made me want to start watching the show.

Apparently the aspect ratios being used are one of those clues I don't have.

I have fallen behind. Last episode I watched was the one that ended with the words, "Hello, Dad."

OK. I've worked it out, with help. Up to Ep 7 anyhow.

Ep 8 was fantastic. They still have plenty of time to screw it up, but this series is starting to border on the profound.

I don't watch TV shows during their initial broadcast run anymore, mostly because I can't remember the details of what happened the previous week, plus all those frikkin' commercials. It's better to binge watch on DVD with the wife. I have enough self-control that I can watch a show a year after it's been on the air. Of course, I have problems remembering what happened from season to season, but we usually solve that problem by either (1) watching a recap on youtube, or (2) watching the last couple of episodes from the previous season before embarking on the DVD binge.

No commercials, but I hear ya. I watched the first 7 episodes when I wanted to (on-line), but now I'm caught up.
I didn't bother with The Americans, but now that it is over I'm tempted to stream, although I'd have to pay more to DirecTV and as always I have to ask myself if it's worth it. Both money-wise and talking to me.

Nice to see I am not alone about Ep 8. It is getting some raves in a lot of places. Just a terrific piece of drama.

HBO programs don't have commercials, so no inherent bathroom breaks. Even when I've watching from a DVR recording, I might not forward through commercials if I have to go.

The show is more interested in surprising the viewer than it is in coherence. As good as Ep 8 was, the last two were even more frustrating because of it. One step forward, then two steps back.
Now a loooooong wait to continue. Not sure I'm that interested in where it's headed, especially since I suspect they don't know.

Ep 8 was fantastic. They still have plenty of time to screw it up, but this series is starting to border on the profound. Is this the one with the backstory of the Native American dude and how he remembered everything that happened while no one else did? This was the by far the best episode of season 2. The rest of the season was a big WTF?!?!

Finally saw Season 2 on DVD. It was mostly unintelligible and confusing. Someone above said it -- I'm not going back up to see who -- the show is more interested in plot twists and surprises than telling a good story. Sad, really.
Bernard seems to have multiple storylines, some in the future, some in the past, and some that are purely in his head. I think. At one point, my wife thought there were multiple Bernards running around.
I caught the change in the aspect ratio but didn't think about it long enough to figure out what it means.
