Exactly. The twins are well-liked and respected and a big reason Bri and Andie fit into the team culture so seamlessly. People talked about Amber's introverted natured and Kadie's cold competitiveness when they first came in, but like most kids in college they grew comfortable in their own skin, matured, and relaxed into their high expectations and have been exemplary teammates for a couple years now. I think Kadie said it best herself in the press conference when she said that she grew more as a person than as a player. I think Kadie has come a long way, and I can't wait to see what her future brings.

So you think a redshirt freshman who hasn't played a minute of college volleyball should replace a second team AA who set her team to a National Championship in her first year as a starter just a year ago? This being the same Kelly Hunter who, last time they did testing, had the highest athletic performance score on the team? And you question KH's athleticism? That's just crazy talk. I do. Like I said, I don't think she will be the setter she has been without the twins and her constant sets to Malloy (bad judgment) says more about her distribution skills. It's quite likely many of the sets to Malloy this season were part of the game plan developed by the coaches. As the L2 she often had the opposing setter across the net on two of her three front row rotations, which is a situation the coaches would want to exploit. Another thing - what do you mean by "constant sets to Malloy"? She had the third highest number of attacking attempts for the entire season, behind Kadie Rolfzen and Foecke. To me this seems pretty normal for an OH. I'm sure you can point to specific instances where Kelly could/should have set someone else, but those instances don't rise to the level of something unusual or "constant".

You raised several legitimate improvements Nebraska needs, but I have an issue with two things. 1. Jazz Sweet, barring significant, and I mean significant physical development, will not start at RS next season. Putting Holman there is interesting since she's still be blocking left sides and she wouldn't have to be as quick off the floor as she does in the middle. I think that approach actually suits her better. 2. Boender and Reeves may not start, but you shouldn't diminish their contributions to the team by calling them cute-to-have. By all accounts I've heard, they are positive parts of the team's chemistry, especially Tiani. If Reeves never takes another swing, she'll still have a better legacy for this program that several multi-year starters I could name. I love how 90% of the people on this forum have only seen Sweet play once and now think they've got her all figured out. Girl bye. Oh their contributions to the team is great, which is why I stated they are better on the bench (hence your remark.) ~ So we do agree there. The "Cute-to-have" was for Nebraska's pride of recruiting in-state players.

I think Kelly has some improvements to make this off-season. I think one of Kelly's weaknesses right now is when she's out of system. If a ball's too tight, she sometimes over-corrects and her location is off. If a ball's too far off the net, she often doesn't jump set and she's too predictable. I also find her a little bit stiff at times, and I'd like to see her hands become more fluid in the way her back sets are. That said, I think Kelly brings a lot to the table. She has a great instinct for the game, she's a great leader, and she's also a great blocker. Agree with all the out of system issues - a great setter (Carlini) can set any pass... Kelly, cannot.

Oh my! The player bashing has begun! I will let the Husker coaching staff determine who get to play and who gets to be reserves! In my opinion, Liv did fine in the games she played! She will appear in more games next season!

OT: What does the LMU head coaching job pay? That would be an interesting job for Chris Tamas to look into.

Kelly gets alot of flack and I have to agree that she was off in the tourney but....they all played terrible vs Texas. I am still puzzled by their meltdown.

Just re-watched Game 1 vs Texas and Nebraska was in system more than the Horns, but couldn't put the ball away. Malloy couldn't terminate and Holman was blocked at a critical point trying to hit cross on the slide. This year's Husker team never seemed very skilled at effectively dealing with a block. They were not smart hitters. Albrecht is about 50-50 getting stuffed out of the back row. Her one swing in Game 1 on the pipe and she got roofed. Meanwhile, Prieto Cerame and White were tooling the block, and Collins made a couple nice saves, pulling tight balls off the net and getting her hitters some easy plays. Nebraska needed difference-makers on the pins in this match, and outside Foecke, didn't have them. That's what I see early on.

No rhythm at all.

Just like the Penn St match they were inexplicably not into it emotionally. They had no energy whatsoever. They needed a spark to get them going. It just never happened. You think a fired up Nebraska team would lose? I don't think so!

Kelly was tight. Cook has said that when Kelly is quiet, he begins to worry as the team plays tight.

I think people underestimate the pressure Hunter was under managing the twins on the court. Yes they matured as players and as people but even this season they both had matches where they simply disappeared. I think she as a player and a leader will go to a different level next year where she can manage a team.
