Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Blacklist was a very good game.

Mad Max
After 100+ hours on this game, I just discovered that you can find "food" in the game by looking for birds flying in a circle.

Mad Max
In one story mission (which means I have to succeed in order for the story to proceed), I had to enter a race and finish first. It's not a difficult race. But for some reason, I kept crashing or zipping out of the course (and falling way behind). I kept losing 5 straight times. Finally, I decided, "Hey, what if I just shot all the contestants with my thunderpoon?" (A thunderpoon is like a grenade launcher.) I thought this might be illegal, but in the sixth race, I blew up one car and the game didn't disqualify me. So, I did it again and again until I finally blew up the lead car. Then, I was the only car on the course for the last 2 miles. LOL! I won!

Mad Max
I've now come to that one incredibly difficult and frustrating story mission that seems to exist in almost every game. The ones that always make gamers throw in the towel and delete the game from their console or computer. In Mad Max, it's another race in a closed course setting and I have to destroy the big boss while:
a. avoiding or fighting off other vehicles, b. avoiding mines and flame throwers, c. minimizing damage to my own vehicle, and d. having a time bomb strapped to my vehicle. I have roughly 6:30 minutes to kill the big boss.
I've already run the race a dozen times and I haven't even come close to accomplishing its objective (i.e., kill the big boss). Reading various boards, many gamers said this was where they stopped playing. LOL!
I've seen a few walkthrough videos and while illuminating, they haven't really helped me. Most of the time, I run into walls or get turned around, thus being a prime target for getting rammed by other vehicles. Or the health of my car gets really low so a simple mine or a vehicle ram finishes me off. The course is designed with lots of curves, pillars, and walls that jut out so that it's so easy to crash into them, stopping your momentum completely. Also, the course has only a couple straight-aways -- one long and one short. So, most of the time, you're trying to maneuver around tight curves. If you go too fast, you'll just end up crashing into a wall.
I've faced similar frustrating missions before, most notably in Just Cause 3 which had a couple nightmarish ones. But I was able to get past them after taking a break for a couple of days.

Mad Max
Got up this morning, fed the dog, and just went straight to the game room. On my first try, got that impossibly tough mission done. Whew! Sometimes, you really just need a good night’s sleep. I must’ve tried over 25 times yesterday. Got very angry and frustrated. I don’t know what made the difference this morning. I wasn’t crashing into walls or spinning out of control like usual.

Mad Max
I decided to take a break today. After the breakthrough from this morning -- I almost cried tears of joy for getting past that mission -- I created a new save file and started the game from scratch. I won't play through it entirely, but I just wanted to reminisce about the early parts of the game. Conclusion: It's pretty damn easy even though it didn't seem like it at the time.
That's the end of that.
Tomorrow, I'll resume with where I left off in my original playthrough. I'm nearing the finish line, I think.

Horizon Zero Dawn
After getting all the Bluegleam from the Frozen Wilde, find myself using the fast travel more often. I love the scenery as I'm running from one place to another, but dang it, I also want to finish this game. One more side quest to finish, and I'm off to enter the Horizon Zero Dawn project place.
