Yes, for several reasons: 1. The current gen console will be cheaper than the next gen console. 2. There are lots and lots of great games for the current gen. Many will get cheaper and cheaper as the years go by. You'll be able to play great games 5-8 years (or however long your console lives) AFTER the introduction of the next gen console. 3. Next gen console games will be expensive, e.g., $50 minimum. 4. By the time your current gen console dies or you're super ready for the next gen, the price of the next gen console would have gone down. This may be anywhere from 3-6 years AFTER the introduction of the next gen console. 5. By the time you've purchased the next gen console, which may be 3-6 years AFTER the introduction of the next gen console (see #4 above), the price of the next gen games would also have gone down. The PS3 was released in 2006, but I didn't buy it until 2012. In 2013, the PS4 was released but I kept playing PS3 games because there were so many good ones -- an at a very cheap price. I finally bought the PS4 in late 2017 and am now playing PS4 games. These don't have backward compatibility but the point I'm trying to make is that you will still play great (and cheap!) games for as long as your console lives and as the years go by, they get cheaper and cheaper. Of course, if you don't care about money, go for the next gen. I'm pretty conservative and smart with my money. I don't overspend on anything (90% of the time) and I try to take advantage of sales, promos, and discounts whenever possible. Those are great points. I owned a PS4 in its early release but the games were limited at the time and only remember playing Infamous Second Son and The Last of Us Re-mastered before giving it to a family member. Have played PC exclusively since. Going to have to look into which console to purchase, I should have jumped on the Black Friday deals when they were available but a new GPU was tempting.
Can't make up my mind between a PS4 and an Xbox One but leaning towards the PS4 because of God of War.
the PS4 has some amazing exclusives. bloodborne is a great example. god of war (PS4) is a good game. they completely changed their approach to fighting that was found in the previous iterations.

Shadow of War
Done.
It's basically the same game as Shadow of Mordor but bigger (5 unique areas vs. 2), more skills, more enemies, more missions, more collectibles, and more complex inventory management. About halfway into the game, it's very very repetitive. You're doing the same thing over and over again but with badder and badder enemies. Also, over half of all the many many skills are kind of worthless (or not necessary). The only worthwhile skill is Shadow Strike Pull where you can literally "pull" almost any enemy to you. This is valuable because often, your targeted enemy is located among 10-15 guards, but if you're perched atop a roof, you can pull that enemy -- and only that enemy -- to you for one-on-one combat, which makes things a lot easier. It's also not just for killing enemies. Let's say someone has valuable intel or gems. Well, you stay on the rooftop and pull them to you so that you don't have to jump down and fight off 20+ other bad guys. I used this skill over and over again.
Overall, this is a much improved game over Shadow of Mordor but I think I like Shadow of Mordor more because Shadow of War was just too much. Too many unnecessary things.

Don’t know. Waiting for a sale. I want it to be either Witcher 3 or Far Cry Primal but anything on my wish list that’s on sale will do.

Playing Horizon Zero Dawn right now. I love the story line and Graphics/world, but not a fan of the gameplay.
Will finish it though.
Also playing the new god of war, and Im obsessed with it. God of War always delivers

Playing Horizon Zero Dawn right now. I love the story line and Graphics/world, but not a fan of the gameplay. Will finish it though. ... I love this game. Love the gameplay. Played it 5 consecutive times, using different strategies for each playthrough. Did everything -- all side missions, all collectibles, all everything, including the constantly respawning mod points by the scrappers. (I forgot the terminology. It's where you can get high level mods at scrapper piles. It respawns over and over again so you can keep going back for more.) I don't know why you don't like the gameplay. Something wrong with you? Also, did you get the Complete Edition with the Frozen Wilds DLC? Hope so. That DLC was pretty awesome and you come out of it with several good weapons and outfits which you can use in the main game.

Shadow of Mordor
Playing this game again for the 4th or 5th time, I think? Noticed some quirks. During the course of the game, it pauses and gives on-screen instructions on how to do certain things, which are useful to newbies. However, being a veteran, I know how to do everything. If you get ahead of the game and do things BEFORE the on-screen instructions appear, sometimes the game freezes. It's as if it's saying, "Oh, geez, dude, could you wait a second and let me tell you how to do that before you do that?" It happened twice. Had to hard quit the game, restart, and replay those missions.

Shadow of Mordor
Dammit! This is a game I dominate in all phases due to my utter mastery through experience and repetition. However, I just got killed twice in quick succession. Both times, I was ganged up by THREE -- not one, not two, but THREE -- Captains. And both times, I was too cocky to leave the fight even though the #1 rule in Shadow of Mordor is "Run away when your health is low. Fight another day."
