Anybody here play Hearthstone, Gwent, or Overwatch? Yeah, I've played Hearthstone since Curse of Naxxramus, its first expansion back in 2014. I've also played MTG Arena since its closed beta in 2018. These days, I mostly play Hearthstone while I'm doing my cardio at the gym, as I don't really enjoy playing it on my PC anymore and haven't for a while.

Hey same here! Do you do rotation or wild? I am thinking of playing MTG arena, but I wish there was a modern format for it.

I have never heard of Hearthstone until now, but Google tells me Hearthstone Is Now The Most Expensive It’s Ever Been. "Free To Play" seems to come in a few flavors: 1) Free to play once in a while, but if you want to play more than that, it will cost you. 2) Free to play completely uncompetitively, but if you want to have a chance of winning it will cost you. 2a) Free to play this game competitively but your character will look like a dork unless you pay up for the cool skins. 3) Free to play part of the game, but if you want to play the rest of the game it will cost you. 4) Free to play this game I made for fun and/or to get myself noticed by the industry. 5) Free to play this game that is loaded with ads.

Hearthstone is #2, though "cost you" could be time instead of money. I've played long enough (often just to clear my daily quests, which reward in-game currency which can be used to buy card packs) that I can build any deck I want and not come remotely close to running out of resources. Granted, I'm a saver by nature (both in real life and in video games). My friend who got me into the game has played even longer, and he always marveled at how much I had. So I'm sure it's true that it's more expensive than it ever has been, but players like me are kind of immune to that due to how long we've played.

Hey same here! Do you do rotation or wild? I am thinking of playing MTG arena, but I wish there was a modern format for it. I play both, depending on the meta in each. I'm mostly working on getting all my gold portraits. I have seven of the nine so far, and am about 100 wins away from getting the eighth (Warrior). After that, I'll probably start working on the new portraits that were announced a little while back (I have less than 50 wins with Priest, which is by far my least favorite class). I usually play aggro/midrange, and Warlock is my favorite class. Demon Zoo was my all-time favorite deck. As for MTG Arena, I like it a lot. It's a lot more complex than Hearthstone because of all the different mechanics and being able to play on your opponent's turn. I would recommend giving it a shot, and if nothing else, you can just complete your daily quests to accrue resources if/when they add Pioneer.

Anybody here play Hearthstone, Gwent, or Overwatch? Is this the same Gwent that's a side game in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt? I played three times and won twice. Still don't know how I won. I'm supposed to also seek out or buy or win valuable cards in the game world. Never got into it.

Yes it is, though having played neither, I'm not sure if the standalone game is the same mechanically as the minigame in Witcher 3.

This talk of XCOM2 made me decide to reinstall it. Played a few missions so far.
I have mixed feelings about XCOM2, mainly because of Long War. Long War provides so many more tactical options, with bigger teams, bigger squads of aliens, and way more choices for soldier skill customization, and the awesome specialized MEC soldiers (huge improvement over the vanilla MEC units). XCOM2, on the other hand, has randomized maps, the fun, sword-optimized "ranger" class, the fun "concealment" mechanism that allows for ambush tactics ... it's a different game -- better in some ways than Long War, worse in others. (It's better than the vanilla XCOM in pretty much all respects.)
XCOM2 features a LOT of timed missions, which can get annoying or can be fun, depending on your preference for such pressure. The strategic game in XCOM was pretty simple -- just spam satellites and keep upgrading your fighters. Long War made it more interesting, but it was still pretty generic. XCOM2's strategic level features more to do (a lot more to do in War Of The Chosen), but it also feels a little hokey/grindy. The mechanism is strange. You fly your little Avenger ship around the map and "scan" for a number of days to get rewards.
Long War 2 is extremely ambitious, really focusing on the new parts of XCOM2 like concealment and ambush and the resistance camps, but I seem to have never learned to play it well. It always ends up overwhelming me by mid-game when the really tough enemies start showing up.

I would highly disagree with google. There was about a year where I would say steer clear of the game. But it is actually the most giving, Blizzards devs have been for the game. It is 100% a game a you can FTP, but it does take understanding the game and sticking with a class. The game is not free to play if you want to experience every deck, class, and opportunity there, but surely no one expects hat.

The devs for this game have done a phenomenal job of getting new players involved and giving them things for free. It is probably the best FTP card game, all things considered (graphics, gameplay, creativity, etc.)

I want to get golden portraits for Hunter and Warlock. Handlock was my favorite and will probably always be my favorite. Priest is easily my most disliked class, funny how that is for us haha. I played MTG arena quite a bit before, but the times I would be investing in games at the higher ranks was getting tedious. I might pick it up again, but I am finding myself glued to OW and Gwent right now. Do you play paper MTG as well?

It just depends on how much you are wanting to put into the game and managing your resources.

I might pick it up again, but I am finding myself glued to OW and Gwent right now. Do you play paper MTG as well? Ah, Handlock. I remember when I first started playing, I was stunned when a Handlock player dropped Lord Jaraxxus, which I was completely unprepared for. I generally dislike control decks, but Handlock was one of my favorite challenging matchups as a Demon Zoo player. It took a lot of skill to play on both sides, and it was a relatively even matchup. My favorite Hearthstone game ever was Eloise vs Lifecoach in a Demon Zoo vs. Demon Handlock match.
As for MTG, I played paper (not competitively) when I was in middle school, but I haven't since. I did buy a cheap competitive deck (Mono Blue Tempo) over a year ago with the idea to maybe start playing paper again. But I never ended up doing it, as I'd rather be at the gym than a game store.
