Not only is it NIU, it is the 2x NIU that Iowa put in their schedule! Iowa State has not come out of it much better. While we only got one dose of 2-17 NIU, we also have a 2-13 Kent State we are dragging along as well. Could be the difference between hosting and not hosting for us in Ames! I had more faith in Ray than to just write off NIU after their senior squad left. I guess assuming they had depth to fill in and being developed behind the seniors was just silly. Since he has been there for 16 years and this is looking like it will be his worst record ever, I am not sure anyone really expected NIU to struggle so much. They have been more competitive of late, though, so they may pick up some wins.

We’re currently getting nailed by RPI, currently sitting at #64. In retrospect, Long Beach St. and NIU were thought to be nice boosters but they have laid horrible eggs this season. We’ll go up slightly as Howard/American/Princeton go through their conference season but we’ve got to start winning conference matches ASAP. ASAP? That would be tomorrow night against Michigan unless the B1G front office grants Iowa's request for a Wed. double header against the Wolverines starting at 3p(CT). Extraordinary circumstances are cited in the application (Hawkeyes need the RPI boost to help it just squeak in the tourney) and so Iowa is expecting the B1G Easy to say Sure, why not. Go Hawks! #FightForIowa.

Alright, with the win tonight we’re only four away from ending above .500, criteria #1 for he tourney.
Remaining we have: Indiana x2, Northwestern, Maryland, Michigan, Ohio St. x2
There’s four wins to be had in that group. Our terminators did fantastic tonight, Sheehan had places to shine, Olsen showed once again she’s one of the better defensive liberos in the conference, and Orr ran herself a great offense.
Looking forward to Nebraska on Saturday... and I will be there! 5k is a tall order but I can’t even imagine that arena with that many fans in there for a volleyball match. We already pull a great crowd, add a couple thousand and man... that would be something.

Getting all involved offensively, ratcheting up defensive (blocks, backrow play...check out Sheehan's dig total!), allowing the new lineup to continue to gel (was glad to see Kelly back in the regular mix). Huge confidence booster during a really tough schedule stretch. Loved Janota and Coyle producing so well tonight. Great job by Orr getting them some nice looks. GO HAWKS! Let's take down some Huskers, eh?

I want to see a bunch of Hawkeye's in Carver-Hawkeye. On a side note, I don't know whether Baxter or Carver-Hawkeye has more acreage around the court, but dang a player could get tired just tracking a single errant ball down in those arenas.

Last... match? I think last match against Minnesota (could’ve been a Badger) I watched someone run down a ball off the sport court and hit the arena flooring hard. I cringed.

It would take a pretty massive collapse for Iowa St. not to get in, they have to be thinking about pushing to host, they’re #19 in RPI.

It may go up slightly with this win, their only one of note. Going to need a much better ending RPI and some more top 50 wins to even be considered to host. Edit - my apologies I thought you were discussing Iowa hosting, not Iowa State. Too late for me, off to bed
