Saw them training at Huntington and they are playing together in Seattle. Gonna be very tough out for some team as Ed moves to Priddy, this tourney gonna be lit!

Yeah, can't figure out who called it off; betting it was Ed as Zaun is going to be fantastic but makes boneheaded mistakes occasionally. Priddy and his sponsor cash likely played role. After Ed/Eric's success tho, bit of a headscratcher.

That said, again, Lorenz simply needs a better partner to get to the next level. Guy blocks high over net and sides out pretty darn well. Loomis was definitely dumped for Zaun, as much as I like Loomis, gimme Zaun's younger stamina and explosion.

Its a great switch for Lorenz and Zaus is definitely a better partner, but at the end of the three setter in New York, Zaun looked gassed. After how well they did, this is a pretty coldhearted switch for Eric, shows a lot of ambition though

I like the pairing but not sure it's better than zaun and ed. They played really really well together. Maybe better than they should have. Even tho I like this paring I bet they don't do as well.
Speaking of priddy I can't say he's a better pick up. What has he did better? Beside has money and with him. Ed and zaun beat teams priddy and ed want.
I'm still not sure how ed and zaun beat some of those teams but it was fun watching it

Look at the same attack numbers and you will see Zaun hit the best of all defenders. Even more impressive that 3 out of their 4 matches were against the 2 teams in the final. Great move for zaun dropping Ratledge. He gets dead tired and hops on Zauns back in matches. I watched most of their matches in NYC and it always came down to ed unable to finish. I'm hopping on the zaun train. Look at it like a science experiment. Ed is the dependent variable. He takes 13th and 9th for years and then Eric comes in for 2017 (independent variable) and he suddenly takes 2 fifth place finishes in a row. Conclusion: zaun had been carrying ed and wants to move on to something better

This team will be cranking it up and super fun to watch, brutal to defeat.

I watched most all ed and zuans matchs and ed played better than I have saw him play in years. He sided out pretty well and blocked decent.

Interesting also that Zaun ranked high in total digs, but not so much on a per game basis. Will be fascinating to see how these guys do with new partners. avp.com/stats/mens-new-york-city-open-2017/BTW, why can't the AVP publish season totals for these stats? They are only showing 2016 totals. It would also be nice if they could archive game-by-game stats on their site somewhere. Then we could compile some opponent-adjusted numbers.

I agree on the need for opponent adjusted numbers, as it stands Reid's numbers are very deceptive. He took very few swings - half the number that Taylor and Eric did for example, and he took them against inferior competition. In the two events he has played, despite playing very weak competition, his numbers are lower than Billy Allen, Nick, and Zaun to name a few. Its hard to take anything from tournaments Reid is playing with a guy who is more or less a top qualifier player, and who puts up no block, so hopefully we can get a better read on him playing with Ed.

I wouldn't call Maddison "no block", if it were Riley, sure, but let's not get crazy here.

Zaun is nothing if not ambitious always looking to the future. This partnership definitely shows that
