So after someone brought a Spalding KOB ball down to the beach and I had the chance to play with it, there is zero doubt in my mind that it's far, far superior to the Wilson AVP ball. It's slightly heavier, feels more premium and serves can be crushed with it. Noticed the Pottstown Rumble used it and now I know why: it's simply a better product that sadly is underused thanks to the AVP's contract with Wilson. Get Donald Sun on the line, it's time to make a change back to what the old AVP knew: Spalding is superior.

I disagree. I like the Wilson ball better. Spaulding is good but harder on your shoulders.

I still have about 8 of the vintage Spalding AVP Top Flite 18 leather rocks….I still think that was the best ball ever, but it is also what I grew up using. I got Sinjin and Karch to sign one them for me….in an all time classic move Sinjin saw where Karch signed it, looked at me and shook his head and signed it on the opposite side of the ball upside down, makes for a great display….anywho, I digress, I have yet to use the Spalding KOB ball, but I personally would like a touch more weight than the current Wilson ball. I was never a fan of the Mikasa balls.

I preferred the old Wilson AVP Gold over the Top Flite just because it was more consistently round, but both were excellent to play with. I feel like the current tours value bounceability over playability a little too much.

The Wilson ball is much easier on your shoulder but the Spaulding is easier on your ball control!

Why even debate between the two when the Mikasa VLS300 exists

Yes, the Spalding KOB is much better than the Wilson and the closest thing to the old 18 panel.

The entire country, besides California, uses KOB Didn't know that, very encouraging that there are those (outside Cali) who know quality and superiority.

Pretty much all outdoor tournaments I've seen in Utah use the AVP ball. Don't know about the rest of Colorado, but the MotherLode tournament also uses the AVP ball.

In the Chicago-land area there is a pretty distinct line is drawn in the sand, most big grass tourneys you will see around here are using the KOB where as any bigger sand tourney is most likely using the Wilson AVP.

Milwaukee area is KOB for grass all day. Sand is strongly KOB but the Wilson AVP ball is making some inroads. I grew up using the KOB so that's what I'm used to but either is fine for me I do like the weight of the KOB ball a little more for setting.
I've never used the authentic Mikasa ball since I've never seen anyone use it around here. I've seen a few of the replica Mikasa balls and they're awful to set (too smooth).

I'm at Bradford Beach every week. I'm not sure what you are talking about. All the good players use the Wilson. The Spalding ball blows.
