The Zaun stuff is confusing to me because it seems so apparent. The less experience a guy has and the younger he is, the more potential he has for improvement. This is the definition of the old riddle, do you want to coach a guy who runs a 40 in 4.5 with perfect form or one who runs a 4.5 with lousy form. Based on results, these two are roughly the same Priddy has massively more experience than Eric 35 events to 8 Priddy is 39 and Eric is 24 How that formula ends up with Reid improving more is beyond me. I can think of maybe 30 players in a similar situation to Eric who grew into top AVP guys. There has never been anyone in Reid's situation who did. There has never been someone in Reid's situation who took on this challenge to this degree in my opinion, so no way to really know what to expect. No but there have been quite a few 39 year olds trying to keep playing in BVB and sports that require similar types of athleticism. Only one player, in BVB, basketball, indoor, etc. has ever even been able to maintain their level, all others fell way off

Priddy returned from an ACL tear to an internationally elite level of play, something that wouldn't have been likely at his age even 10 years ago. Twenty years ago, Mike Dodd was winning AVP and FIVB events at age 39. You'd think nowadays a player like that could easily add another five years to his career.

From Priddy: The last 6 days were interesting to say the least. The first thing I should say is that it was ALL WORTH IT! The exposure to these teams and the game reps are invaluable!! Ricardo and I played some great volleyball at points and it's exciting to see our team improving with every match. However, due to my condition (Brutal virus causing 48+ hours of triple digit fever from Tues-Friday...as well as being 97 degrees there!!), that high level could not be sustained throughout the entirety of the matches. We won the 1st set in both matches in the main draw and had massive leads in the second, but couldn’t hold on, eventually losing in the tie-break. Lots to take away from this experience and looking forward to the next event in Natal next month! I felt well received and was especially thankful to @cbvolei and their medical providers for the on-site assistance!

Mike Dodd at 39 was a far inferior player to Mike Dodd at 29. Also he was much taller than Reid (as compared to most players of his day) and relied very little on athleticism. "Easily add five years?"
