405LAX you sound like a bitter wannabe player who got cut from every team he tried out for; not like a great analyst who brings HOT TAKES. Let people play where they wanna play. I mean, does it matter where you play your World of Warcraft tournaments? Should I criticize you for playing in your mom's basement, instead of at Starbucks?...regardless of your talent level?

I have total respect for Kolinske & Evans. They see the problem with the AVP contract and are willing to sacrifice their own future of a sport to better it for others.
If the other players had the balls to stand up against the contract, it would be gone and the tour would move on. Don Sun might drop the tour, but someone else would pick it up, and things would move on.
I keep hearing/reading about how the AVP is coming back... that is a sad statement when looking at the minimal money flowing into the pro's hands, silly sponsors, and a slow to no growth tour (same number of stops/ same money for 2018 from 2017).. not a shocker,,, no competition...
FACT : AVP 2013, 7 stops, 1.1 mil in prize money AVP 2017, 8 stops, 1.38 mil in prize money
over 4 year, 1 stop increase and 280K increase in prize money...

It's your typical BB level player attitude who criticizes every A, AA, and open player for not taking the same steps they wish they so desperately wish they could take. We're talking about the AVP here, not the NBA or the NFL.

If I'm not mistaken Billy moved out to Cali from Wisconsin expressly to play beach volleyball. Again, if you play a sport, you should want to play it on the highest level if you consider yourself any kind of competitor. Would Jake Gibb slum it down a notch? Hell no, that guy is a competitor and wouldn't accept beating second-rate teams (though clearly not Stafford/Allen) for "titles". What about Zaun? Guy up and moved from the east coast and lives in a freaking VAN to play volleyball on the #1 domestic tour, not the now DOA NVL but the A-freaking-V-P. Oh and by the way, Zaun also played in Pottstown & Seaside so clearly you can play in outside events not named NVL. Now if you can tell me that both of those guys have full time jobs off the court that pay them handsomely, there is no other reason for not attempting to compete on the AVP tour other than fear of not having the same success they have in those local bar championships. kolinske moved back to wisconsin way back. Athletes pursue the highest level to make a career in their sport. No AVP mainstay is making a career. Gibb makes a living because hes a world class player. The 5th best team in the avp made like 12k each. If zaun never becomes a world class player and commits to the avp he will still be living in his truck when hes 30 and probably finishibg on a top 5 AVP team. Thats all fine and dandy, but it sure aint for everybody. Billy did not move back to Wisconsin. He still lives in California.

Its one thing to boycott when there is a chance others will, but since Kolinske's marginal value to the tour is 0 and Miles' is probably less, they aren't affecting anything but themselves. I do really enjoy the "you are giving us money despite us adding no value to the company, but we don't like the way your charity works" stand these guys are taking

Again, Jennings clearly got in Billy's ear for Jennings' own good, reserve the only blocker who'd give up an AVP career for one tourney in Long Beach. Smart career move.

What do you think your stance amounts to? Roughly the same as their NORCECA win.

Certainly the thrill of playing top level competition that one time must have made up for sitting home and watching 8 AVP events on the livestream as well as the $10,000 or so that Billy, at least, gave up. Nothing wrong with the initial action, that certainly took some courage, but failing to back off it when circumstances changed just seems pigheaded.

When did this board become so full of personal attacks on other posters? Also maybe this is just where I live but no way does Starbucks internet support high level gaming.
