A bit disappointing. Would like to see Reid play vs a really good team (brailians,...). Priddy/Casebeer are a new team and Miles and Billy have been playing lights out for a while, but I would say Jeremy is better than either of those guys. To take a beating like that really doesn't reflect well on Reid. (or Jeremy) Definitely a major setback for Mr. Tokyo, guy might be begging for a partner this season if CB goes back to Mayer and Santos hooks back up with Chaim.

Didn't see the match, and really have no idea how it went down... but after watching Miles Evans last summer, I will go out on a not so long limb and say he IS the next big thing in the US. I realize Taylor Crabb is lights out, and that Evans isn't playing AVP (yet) but man this guy has size and loads of skill. Watched a match where he played NORCECA Qualifier with Doherty, and he deserved a much better partner. Everyone was comparing Crabb, Zaun, Frishman and whoever else... Miles Evans should be on that list and towards the top of it!

Yea I don't think we'll see Evans/Kolinske on the AVP anytime soon unfortunately, but they have been playing really well together and glad to see them into the International mix.
They have it set up nicely for them with points to at least make the qualifiers and they have been playing together for a while, now it's just up to them to continue getting experience and see where they can go as a team.

I watched a bit of Casey’s livestream on IG story and he was obviously rooting for Reid.

I've been shouting Evans' praises for ages (check my posts), all the more reason why I have hammered him for not signing with the AVP. I get that he wants to play all these sidebar tourneys but the real competition is on AVP tour (aside from FIVB obviously). He's too good not to play with the best, slumming it with whatever the NVL turns up with in 2018.

Say what you want about the avp contracts, they may suck for some great for others. Evans is a beast he’s got to play the avp right. Or can he completely skip it and play FIVB? If he does could it open More reasons for our avp players to not play AVP?

Nobody has to play AVP to play FIVB. The 2 are completely unrelated. Not sure why you wouldn't want to play AVP but you don't have 2. If a player wants to go Norcecas route without avps they probably won't get anyone good enough to help them win and get points. All the good players play avps.
Billy and evans are more an exception to the rule.

Billy and evans are more an exception to the rule. They clearly enjoy bottom feeding outside of FIVB action. Now all this praise aside, let me see them beat Slick/Patterson or even John/Billy before I get too excited. Billy is a poor man's Gibb, definitely patterned his game off him but doesn't have same size, average athlete too. Miles on the other hand has few flaws if any for a defender. Lone one I see is a propensity to hammer the ball too often, opening himself up to huge blocks.

And back to your point Haze, there is NO reason to not play AVP unless you don't want to face the best competition. Their MO is clearly to win all these secondary events but how many AVP guys played Pottstown & Seaside, etc? Anyone who wanted to. The only thing AVP doesn't want you playing is NVL, which I'll be shocked if it returns outside of one event if that.

Down goes Rosie and Trevor. Maybe time for an early split. Trevor is just not big enough of a blocker especially when they play a team like they just lost to which was really tall. Ryan and Rosie maybe?

Ryan and Rosie maybe? That’s a very early departure from the tournament... Miles and Bill through to the main draw though! ...who will play Doherty and Allen in Pool E.
