That’s good to know. A-team ace serving.

Thanks for the info. I'd like to hear more about Alix's game. Thanks on the Cook info too. I watched Alix a fair amount last season. When she gets a decent set, she's pretty unstoppable offensively - hits high and deep and has a nice array of shots that are almost impossible to track down because of the angle of attack. Sets quite well given her experience. Her blocking needs work (she's not close to a Walsh level blocker yet) - she can be a little slow to penetrate and/or try to take up too much space and gets used more than she should. She generally passes well, but can struggle passing when it gets a little windy. Has problems with the broken/out-of-system plays as you might expect. All her faults are things I would expect to improve quite a bit given her limited experience. But totally concur with Geddy that there will be some poor finishes along the way to improvement. That said, I think April made the right move and did it at the right time. That's pretty spot-on, IMO. Alix could get a bit lost on transition plays, but that's curable by reps and footwork. Same with playing in the wind. But you could see the potential to be a terminal hitter and a big problem at the net for opposing teams. I think she's a bit better athlete than Pavan (the obvious comparison due to height and experience), and is coming into the sport a more well-rounded player (OH vs. Pavan being an OPP). And while there is no guarantee that Klineman will reach the same level Pavan has, I'd put some money down on it happening by, say, mid-2019.

Yep, Fendrick listed with Karissa Cook now. That means eight USA women’s teams listed now. How does that work for who/how many teams are in the Main, Qualification, Country Quota?

I actually think that will an interesting team to watch this season. Cook is good - she was playing out of position last season, having to block in front of Katie Spieler (a very skilled player, but she's four feet tall). Now she gets to play behind a big, experienced blocker. I can see them getting some good results on the AVP. Internationally, I'm not sure. A bit surprised Fendrick isn't teaming with Carico since they planned to play last season before April called. Could be that with Chaim sitting out of FIVB for two years, maybe Lane wants to stay home more as well.

She'll get majority of serves. No pressure for April, just roll a ball up there for her. I see tons of dropping blockers wishing they hadn't

Not like she'll be setting an average partner. You have to attack her from service, get her out of system.

Can't wait for the Hague! There better be a way to stream early rounds

Did you decide on which ones you are going to?

I was hoping to, but it would have meant two days of travel there and back. I wish I had known about April/Alix sooner, that may have made a difference. (I also figured Nick/Phil wouldn't go which was a big drawback) Doha seems like a certainty because Ill be in the region at that time, and I am hoping to make 2-3 weeks of that European swing in Jun-July. Maybe Poland, Portugal and Gstaad, should be 3-4 full field events there. Tiny possibility of Fort Lauderdale, where I haven't been in decades. I imagine you have already blocked that one out since the AVP isn't getting near FL this year?

But I've got a new-born right now, not sure I'll be allowed to go...My plan is to get her parents in town so I can skate. I think I'd rather go to an AVP though. Better access, and quite a few young players I'd like to see live.

I feel like "sign my baby" would be a great way to engage players. Definitely an element of that at FIVBs. At the AVP you never end up watching Germany's 3rd best team versus non-Pavan Canada, always someone I'm interested in playing at least until the very end usually in an AVP.
