I was talking to my good friend who was an All-American at UNC a few years back and she said she isn't shocked that there would be more girls transferring.

What she told me that it is more then likely has to do with the two assistants leaving for Tennessee.

Was at UNC this week but didn’t get into practice. However, I have been told that there are no expected transfers at this time other than Leath.. Leath actually decided to transfer before the players even knew about the coaching changes. However, I have heard rumor of Evans possibly transferring. Things can change but it seems that the core is staying put. I’ll update if I hear more

When I said expect surprise transfers, I meant coming in. Not leaving.

Who are the transfers that make it so surprising? You can't post it and not give us detail.

My Daughter plays with Lauren Harrison and you will be impressed. If Harrison or Cox gets to start at one of the positions on the left or right, they both are ACC freshmen of the year material. Harrison reminds me of an Alexis Hart type player. Still working on the back row but she can absolutely thunder a ball. She’s going to be a great player at UNC

It's hard to tell about these things. Scoles was probably as ready as any UNC freshman hitter has ever been, though there were things she had to work on throughout that season. Leath, the redshirt freshman, showed flashes as a hitter, but she was a long ways from Leath the redshirt sophomore All American.
You can have some sense of where a player is at volleyball wise when she enters a program. I don't think there's any way to know how she'll adjust or not adjust to the mental side. I like Harrison and Cox a lot. The last time I saw them, Harrison looked a little more ready, but I'd be happily surprised if she turns out to be Scoles ready, yet not shocked or disappointed if it's a progression more like Leath's first couple years.
Some of these things are also synergistic. Leath and Scoles clearly benefited from having the other able to score from the back row. Leath without Scoles wound up seeing a lot more double blocks. Similar thing with the back row and setting. There's a lot about a hitter looking good that has surprisingly little to do with the hitter. Depending on how they use Fields, Ava Bell may be the UNC player who has the most impact as a freshman.

I think you make a great point about Leath and Scoles being a benefitting partner of one another. The question for me is can Borup be an offensive threat from the back row and play defense as a solid 6 rotation player? Injury really slowed her growth last year. If not, I think you may have competition for that second OH2 spot between her and the freshmen. Another question is the RS. I assum Carlton will be one opposite if they run a 6-2. I am a Fields fan and before her injury, she was looking much better on the RS. Her offense became thunderous, not always consistent, but her block on left side hitters was solid. Sagula has the luxury of using several players on the right. Fields could also go back to the middle and be as effective. Ava Bell has been my wildcard player. She is enrolled early so she should get a leg up on the other freshmen along with Lagarde although Lagarde has more to improve on. Bell has a great skill set. She can play any pin and middle and even play in the back row. I’m excited to watch her grow.

Harrison can hammer the ball from either RS or OH. Her biggest asset is being able to attack hard with very little approach and still get 10ft up. A goto on out of system balls.
