I guess technically Debbie Green is not an alumnus of USC. She got her bachelor's degree from LBSU, not USC, even though her stellar volleyball playing days were at USC.

An "alumnus" can refer to anyone who attended the school, not just a graduate. BTW, Debbie Green would be an alumna. "Alumnus" is male, "alumna" is female.

Did anybody attend or know somebody who did? Were any coaches there beyond Kennedy? Any word on the timeline for a new coach? I don't have any info on a new coach or a timeline. Jason Kennedy was the master of ceremonies. Kyle Weindel was there but didn't speak. Swann was there and spoke to kick things off but didn't acknowledge that the program doesn't have a coach. Most players mentioned and thanked Mick, as did Kennedy.

Who has a 'banquet' at 10 o'clock on a Sunday morning?
Respectable womenfolk should be churchafying at that hour.

Absolutely right bigfan, USC did have a great season. Hopefully an announcement of a new coach that pleases most players and fans will come soon. The haters will always complain about SC, but that's generally because they're both afraid of them and jealous. I'm ready for what should be a great sand season as well; many new faces and challenges.

Ford looks very happy in the pic -- I wonder if that has something to do with Mick's departure?

You are not from Southern California, are you? LOL at the idea that you can get from the Galen Center to Anaheim in 25 minutes. Maybe by helicopter.

I'm curious about this idea that Haley needed to reach the Final Four to get his contract renewed. One reason why I think that there might be credence to this is that he publicly repeated in November that he believed he had a Final Four team. Not a championship team -- the emphasis was Final Four. However, if this were true, wouldn't it mean that all the speculation about Haley's old-school style of coaching and the transfers out of the program were secondary concerns, if concerns at all?
That said, Haley stated in the Volleyballmag article that he was told by the administration that he wasn't being fired for cause. Wouldn't the aforementioned issues be clear cause for not renewing a contract? How could you claim age discrimination if the administration had distinct reasons for not renewing the contract? Did they have their reasons but not want to share them with Haley because there was no requirement to do so? If Haley's being honest, seems like a really screwed up situation.

New to the current conversation....
Haley did so much for program here. To cause him to "resign" is undignified. A contract of a year would be respectable..i.e.get the program to next level, or plan to say goodbye. Somehow, I don't think that conversation happened, and it should have. In the championships, they got to a higher level than any of the PAC12 except Stanford, especially UCLA, local adversary. Just hateful to do this to him. At least a graceful departure. Yes, he could have bowed down and said okay...but isn't that the antethesis of what you want in a winning coach....to bow down?

If it was his decision, the press release reads differently, unfortunately. I’m just baffled at what’s been happening the last couple years. AD’s and players have no knowledge of what it takes, yet are calling all the shots. Terrible for the game and the profession. There are a lot of good coaches either out of the college game or looking to get out ASAP. Something needs to change. This is also what happens when some Universities want 'Rock Star' AD's. What qualifies Swann to be an AD, exactly? He was a great NFL player in the 1970s? His unsuccessful run as a Republican candidate for Governor of Pennsylvania? His work as a sports broadcaster? His brief stint as emcee of To Tell The Truth? I was scratching my head on this choice too.
