One of the best coaches in the country happens to lead a program in the city that Swann once called home. This would not make for the most impressive press release but would be a wonderful choice.

There were also no transfers out of Stanford. Nobody transfers out of Stanford.

Nobody transfers out of Stanford. That sounds like a threat. Transferring out of Stanford is akin to putting Baby in the corner.

People don't seem to understand that if your contract is expired, you don't have anything from which to "resign." The only face-saving option would have been to retire, but Mick obviously isn't ready to do that (and wasn't willing to go quietly). Other people don't seem to understand that his contract isn't expired. USC cancelled his contract, which ran through June (according to VBMag). If that actually is the case, resigning would mean that Mick doesn't get paid for the duration of the contract. Not much chance of that happening.

If USC hired Lynn Swann, I'd say he met their qualifications. We don't have to like USC's decisions and they are a private institution. I don't know how much Swann is making, but his predecessor made approximately $3M in his final year. Prior to his 2016 USC hire, Swan's total days of experience in athletic administration in either the University, College, Junior College or High School level: Exactly 0. I don't disagree with how you feel about Haley's firing. I don't disagree about your assessment of Swann's qualifications. I'm only saying that how we feel doesn't matter. It's USC's prerogative to hire and fire who they see fit. Maybe they like the idea of having an AD who was a famous Trojan football star? Maybe they like the smell of his undergarments? I guess you can root against them from now on.

Nobody transfers out of Stanford. That sounds like a threat. Why would anyone transfer out of Stanford? Even if you stopped playing vb.

Any comments about him during the championship broadcast? Football game going very long so I'm unable to watch if it starts on time.

That sounds like a threat. Why would anyone transfer out of Stanford? Even if you stopped playing vb. Not wanting to pay student loans for the rest of your life?

Not sure if it has been said but another angle on this is that AD ask Mick to resign at end of season and he says no. AD gives him a chance to announce retirement at end of USC season (right after last game). Mick says no again that he has until end of June. AD in consult with lawyers say he needs just cause to terminate . Mick knows what they want him to do but doesn't accept it...leaks to press that it is ageist. Now AD has just cause (depending on what his contract really says) for disclosing terms of contract. AD then fires immediately doesn't wait (claiming Mick is harming USC reputation). If Mick waited to leak to press they may have waited and tried to negotiate terms of settlement for resigning.
All that said, Mick could still have a case for wrongful dismissal. Then again, by him going against terms and leaking confidential information could go against him.
It will be interesting to see this shake out. The whole thing could definitely impact the program. Some girls may transfer out (without penalty), especially if they believe there was a injustice done to the coach. This could also have negative repercussions to program recruits and transfers. It may have little impact if the players weren't fond of Mick, or if they like the incoming coach. It will be an interesting case to see unfold.
