This is more in the realm of "mispronounced words by sportscasters" than "stuff typed on VT": "Verse" when it should be "Versus". As in, "Tonight's match is USC verse UCLA". What does the R in Floyd R. Turbo stand for? It's just an initial. Doesn't stand for anything. Like Harry S. Truman - no middle name, just an initial. At least that's my story today.

"That said"
On the other end of the spectrum (and at risk of alienating uncommitted affection), would like to see much more of Girlpower..

I'm convinced I never want to see dear daughter or D.D. ever again. I see it and automatically think I hope your dear daughter never gets employed.

"better" as in "better the ball" "betterment" as in "for the betterment of the community"

"would of" in place of "would have". Most definitely agree. I understand their/there, but of/have don't even sound at all alike. How can that mixup happen? ??

"Then" and "than" don't sound alike either.
At least they aren't supposed to.

It doesn't make it any less annoying to see it misused, but it comes from the abbreviated version of would have (would've) which does sound like would of. Still drives me nuts though

"I'm locking the thread" in response to a topic with actual backing and important enough for those with DD's to know about.
People were hesitant to throw anyone under the bus, but there is a heck of a lot more than an abnormal amount of injuries going on at Wisconsin.
