Reason number 687 Miles & Billy better be playing AVP this year. Agreed. Although Casebeer and Priddy are a bad combo IMO. They each need to play with steady partners with good ball control to maximize their potential.

Bill Kolinski is not playing AVP this year. If there is no legitimate NVL schedule, he has no legitimate reason not to sign. Zero reason.

Bill is not signing the AVP contract..Bottom line...Doesn’t agree with the AVPs stance. From the horses mouth...He wants flexibility...

What I'm saying is IF there is no NVL, there's zero reason not to sign. Even if NVL returns for only LB again, big deal, move on to play with the big boys. Reality is, Billy is not the better half of that team, Miles is, Billy was marginally successful on AVP, 5th place would be great for him on AVP. And it's not like AVP stopped players from playing Pottstown or Seaside, right? It's ridiculous but again, Billy is a slightly above average blocker, Miles is the prize.

Agreed, if there really is no NVL what flexibility could Billy really want? Other AVP people still go play Seaside, Pottstown, Waupaca, etc. so you could easily go play these events.
You have sponsors, you have USA backing for the international stuff, why would you not want to play on the tour where you can win money because you have travel/entry covered?
If 2020 is something you are serious about then you have to be playing tourney style against the other people that have 2020 aspirations. Claiming you do not like their stance while making a terrible business decision by seriously limiting your financial gain and tourney experience is just baffling to me.

If Billy and Miles are able to be a steady FIVB, then the AVP financial loss is small, since half the tourney fall in line with a FIVB event anyway... and since 2020 is FIVB points (so far) then they look to be going down the right path...
After travel and expenses, trying to play the AVP events really dont gain that much overall $ if you already have sponsors...

Would love to hear Billy's take on all this; I get the concern with the contract, but would love to read his position on it. Funny so many others have signed and he did not (who else of any magnitude?). 31 years old and $33K from AVP and $875 from NVL in career. What are we missing here?

If they are good enough to be a top 4 FIVB team, and qualify every time (hint: they aren't) they would be finishing top 3 on the AVP regularly. Thats 30k apiece they would be giving up. Travel and expenses for half the AVP stops are minimal (since there is no travel at all). For Billy this stance actually makes perfect sense because its how he hangs onto Evans. (I havent seen Miles play enough to judge but everyone else seems to say he is the one driving that team's success) Maybe he has improved a ton and everyone is wrong, but if Billy is the same player he was and Evans is the one with real potential, he would get picked up ASAP by someone else on the AVP. (Doherty? Brunner?)

Shouldn't it seem like maybe this guy Miles also plays a role in this? Is it also him that doesn't want to contract with the AVP? Is it Billy who doesn't want to lose him as a partner by doing that? Seems to me like if BOTH of them are not on the same page, then the best option may be to stay together instead of opting for new partners. If they split, who would either attract to play with them. Certainly not any of the prominent players who would help them attain high finishes.

I agree, maybe it would not be such a bad idea to have travismewhirter invite Miles and Billy on to the podcast and have it be a controlled, professional environment and let him speak for himself so the community can get a better understanding where he is coming from. Of course he would be opening himself up to questions he may not otherwise feel comfortable answering but would certainly offer some transparency into his thought process. People are knocking him for not playing on the tour so why not offer a medium to explain himself with his peers, what more damage could he do if he doesn't plan on signing the contract anyways? They have shown moderate success and certainly are improving and doing things necessary to continuing their individual careers and as a team, perhaps it would help others understand the simple question of "why"?

I guess I’m just interested in why so many think the NVL or whatever this other tour is going to called won’t attract top talent?...Even if there is no “Superstars”, except Kerri playing, that doesn’t mean some won’t emerge in the next year or two...I just think this is a legitimate question... I’m sorry to beat a dead horse...But...Everyone signed AFTER Donald threatened to shut it down for the year...Most of these players had no choice but to sign. Am I correct in this statement...Someone, please inform me if I’m missing something. The AVP had only a handful of players sign before the ultimatum was given...
