Cat's in the Cradle is Harry Chapin's. Not to nitpick, just for the record. Yeah, I was multi-tasking, and did not review before posting. Fixed, thanks.

Pop songs...well, that kills about 90% of my favorite songs, but: God Only Knows - Beach Boys Someday, Someway - Marshall CrenshawBad Time (to be in love) - Grand Funk. Not a pop band, but that's a hell of a good pop song. Billie Jean - Michael Jackson That Thing You Do! - The Wonders. Not even a real band, but that song has hooks n' harmonies for days. Out of Touch - Hall & Oates Everybody (Backstreet's Back) - The Backstreet Boys. Yeah, I went there. I'm a Believer - The Monkees Take On Me - a-ha Roam - The B52's Uptown Funk - Mark Ronson/Bruno Mars Gold - Spandau Ballet. You could also interchange Gold with "True." Crazy - Gnarls Barkley Wouldn't it Be Good - Nik Kershaw How could I ever forget "Someday, Someway" by Marshall Crenshaw! This is what Happiness is about.

Take On Me had maybe the first successful "story" video, and to this day it's still one of my favorite videos. Family Guy did a parody of this music video:

... Uptown Funk - Mark Ronson/Bruno Mars ... Crazy - Gnarls Barkley ... I like many on your list but never heard of 4 of them. Interesting enough, 1 of the 4, Uptown Funk -- this is the 3rd time within 24 hours that I ran across its reference! So this morning I listened to it, along with Someday Somehow, Everybody and Roam, but didn’t get excited. That said, I think Bruno Mars is an incredible live performer. The old dog in me took in very few new songs after the mid 80s. Randomly changing stations in my car one day I came across Crazy. It instantly became a favorite.

This one. Someone was playing this at an (adult) volleyball tournament one early, warm spring day. Outside, the hatch of their car open. Loud.
It. Was. Perfect.

Not looking for musical nirvana or the defining musical moment, but just a pop song that grabs your attention for that few minutes of happiness. God Only Knows The Beach Boys Brian Wilson wrote this the day after he listened to Rubber Soul for the first time. All time great song.

The main plot and some of the themes from the video game Bioshock Infinite were lifted from -- and otherwise inspired by -- the song "God Only Knows."

The suite of songs beginning with "You Never Give Me Your Money" and ending with "The End" on the second side of Abbey Road was, upon my first hearing, mesmerizing. I still like it today but I think what happened back then was John Lennon and Paul McCartney composed a bunch of songs they couldn't quite finish or was too short, so George Martin and the boys created this suite to string together all these little songs together and voila! Critics call it a masterpiece!

And another thing, what's the difference between a Moby and a Beck?
