Bought some Irish Grass Fed Butter tonight as I had randomly heard someone on the radio talking about how much better it is than regular butter, both the Irish and the grass fed part. Not sure if the quality validates the price but it is pretty darn good.

Not sure if the quality validates the price but it is pretty darn good. Strangely enough, I recently bought a panettone "from Roy". Not sure if the quality validates the price ($50 for a couple pounds of bread) but it is pretty darn good. I had intended to eat it over several days. It didn't survive 12 hours at my house. www.thisisfromroy.com

Rule in my family on which carbs to cook/prepare for meals:
NPR
(as in National Public Radio, the news outlet)
It's a memory aid. In our family, "NPR" means Noodle, Potato, Rice. We rotate among noodles, potatoes, and rice -- in that order. So, if we had potatoes on Wednesday, we'll have rice on Thursday, followed by noodles on Friday. Rotation rule. Sometimes, we'll need 2-3 days to get rid of leftovers of rice. So, when the leftovers are finally done, we then shift to noodles.

I hate yogurt, but that's just my idiosyncratic taste. I do prefer gelato to ice cream too.

I hate yogurt, but that's just my idiosyncratic taste. I do prefer gelato to ice cream too. If you hate yogurt, you'll definitely hate kefir. It's a super probiotic even better than yogurt with all sorts of good nutrients. But it tastes like sour milk mixed with dishwater and salt. I've grown to like it.

Tried dairy-free almond milk chocolate ice cream last night. Wasn't too bad actually. Certainly had a nuttier flavor.

Now making sourdough bread using a sourdough starter. I'm an expert. Well, I've got a bread machine if that counts. All my breads turn out fantastic!

I've done that. Wasn't as happy with the result as I am from my usual yogurt brand (Brown Cow), so I didn't do it again.

I do prefer gelato to ice cream too. It's been a few months since I made any gelato. I can't find a supply for duck eggs right now (ducks are more seasonal than hens). I suppose I could use chicken eggs, but I like the duck eggs.

You have to work at it. There is a reason why peasants have been making it for thousands of years. Problem with sourdough is that it's hard to keep the starter in the right condition unless you use it (and thereby renew it) frequently.

Got a flyer with some coupons from Zume Pizza. Looked great. But the flyer had no info on where this Zume Pizza was located. Turns out, it's a set of pizza food trucks where they make the pizza in the trucks and deliver the pizza to your home.

I was about to make beef stew this evening when I noticed my beef had turned brown. I had it in the refrigerator for the past week. I used the tried and true "smell" test for beef and it didn't give off a foul odor. So, based on that test, it should be good to go.
