The wife brought home (from work) a Christmas-themed bouquet made to look like a bouquet of flowers but made of fruit. I'm now eating chocolate-dipped strawberries. Whoever came up with this brilliant idea must think we're all cult-like idiots because chocolate-dipped strawberries is the nastiest thing I've ever tasted. The problem with chocolate-dipped strawberries is usually that they put terrible chocolate onto terrible strawberries. Good strawberries are of course wonderful. So is good chocolate. And they are a nice combination. But commercial food plants like to use unripe strawberries (because they are firm and last a long time) and cheap, nasty chocolate.

I have a $7.99 coupon for Marie Callender's salad bar. I didn't even know they had a salad bar. Must check it out.

Now here is a pop quiz, how do you know a piece of sushi or sashimi is of good quality?

I don't know what the general consensus is among yogurt drinkers of the Abali Yogurt Drink product but I find it disgusting.

I've been on the food poisoning diet. This is absolutely the best way to lose weight I've discovered. Obviously, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand that if you don't eat anything you will lose weight. The problem is implementation and the word "cravings". In the food poisoning diet you basically eat nothing, drink water, and you don't have cravings. Just one look or smell of hot food and your body says, "no way Jose".

I've NEVER been on any diet. I was once 20 lbs over my ideal weight (all due to free bagels, soft drinks, donuts, and pop tarts at the office -- I ate and drank more than my share, hehehe, by a lot. I mean, 5 cans of soda, 3 bagels, every day). I lost all of that weight in a couple of months simply by running and cutting all those free office food items. But my breakfast, lunch, and dinner remained the same.

But my breakfast, lunch, and dinner remained the same. I really haven't ever been on a serious diet either. I just eat a little less than I used to, when I was playing volleyball and golfing more. I still take walks, climb stairs, do light weights, and play golf. That keeps me in pretty good shape. I have a desk job mainly, so that's why I need to govern my food intake, especially around the holiday season.

Speaking of curry, I have a tough time retaining Indian food/dish names in my head. I think the cause of the problem is that I mostly go to Indian buffets so paying attention to dish names is not as important as the visual look/presentation of the dishes on the buffet table. Also, as much as I love Indian food, I don't care enough to get to know the names of dishes. LOL! This is an indictment on my part.
When I go to non-buffet places like Indian deli counters, I see the dishes laid out for me behind the glass counter and if I want to order, say, a combo plate (2 items, rice, naan, etc.), I just ask the clerks behind the counter "What's this?" and "What's that?" The clerks all understand that I want to know what's inside the dishes, e.g., pepper, garbanzo beans, potato, cheese, and not the name. After they tell me what the main ingredients are, I basically say, "Okay, I'll have some of this" or "Let me have some of that."
I have a really tough time at fancy-schmancy Indian sit-down restaurants. If the menu doesn't come with pictures, I'm lost.

Re. ice cream Do you eat ice cream after scooping some into a separate bowl or straight out of its original tub? I do the latter. My wife takes hers in a separate bowl but she doesn't mind that the ice cream in her bowl came from a tub that I've polluted with my saliva. When we have guests, e.g., kids, who we know like ice cream, we simply buy some new tubs so that theirs is fresh. Sometimes, they'll prefer the flavor of the ice cream from one of the tubs we've already polluted. I disclose this fact to them and most of them are like, "I don't care. Give me some." I don't give it to them.

I've made ice cream on my own x times, where 20<x<50. The clean-up is a problem. So, I stopped making my own.
