This relates in no way to anything that I said, so not sure why you quoted me on this. False. "Heck there is an adult tournament being hosted there next weekend, which I have not seen outside of the Spike Out Cancer fundraiser tournament held between HS and club seasons. To me that says he is taking money any way he can get it now."

Gotcha,
I was not as clear as I thought I was, not very good at multitasking so my fault on that. What I was trying to say was Butler seems to have replaced training on non tournament weekends with trying to supplement his income somehow on weekends. So ordinarily he would not be hosting anything on March 30th, and now he has an adult tournament during that time for the 1st time that I have ever heard of.
It is never a bad business decision to make money over not making money, so if the gym is free at fusion, GLC, or anywhere else and you can get people to pay you to use it, it makes sense to do it...but this is not what Sports Performance has done in the past. That leads me to believe he is taking money any way he can get it now as opposed to what he has done in the past.
Sorry about the confusion.

SPVB alums from the last few years are reaching out to their former team mates to contact the plaintiff lawyers of the class action suit to opt out of the class action in hopes of collapsing the class. Not sure how many opt-outs they would need to collapse the lawsuit, but there it is. Edit: I have been told that since the judge has already granted class status that no amount of opt outs would collapse the lawsuit, so their effort is for naught. I wonder who asked the players to ask their parents to make sure they opt out of the lawsuit?

I know I did as well as an email. What makes you believe that we parents, both former and the current ones, won't want to opt out? I know at least five families that are opting out, including myself that's six. NO ONE had to ask or tell me to. NO ONE had to ask or tell the other parents in our old group text to. We just are.

I did miss the girls' post, which girl was it? What makes you think she didn't post of her own free will? Your original post made it sound like someone had a hand in having her put the word out. What you all dont don't factor in is how people in the organization feel about all of this, not just because it's the Butlers involve but because they take this all very personally. Just the many exchanges here where I have been personally attacked for simply providing an inner circle perspective and I am pro what work is being done by those very committed athletes and their coaches. The PMs I have received, thee assumption that I fit some sort of profile, these things are personal. The more that we are attacked the more we unite. Just like the directors of the WCPL united, the parents, many many parents of SPRI, are uniting. We are tired of being painted a certain way and many of the parents have expressed a certain kind of glee that they can do something finally. Even as simple as opting out. This makes you mad? It bothers you that the girls are loyal? That the parents have done their due diligence and think all sides of the story are shady? That many people see there is more to the Rick and Cheryl Butler story than the inflammatory headlines?! It's obvious you do not understand what this club has done for these young women and their families. It is obvious that you only see one perspective. You think these families will allow this club to go away without a fight?! Ah you do not understand human nature very well at all, do you? I was curious about that FB page you redacted. Curious to find out if it's www.facebook.com/NoSPVBLawSuit/

You do not understand that most of us do not care if Sports Performance stays open (I personally want them to stay open, they are good for the sport), we want a child molester to be forced to stay away from children. Most of us understand that both sides of the story are messy and there is likely shady things that happened on both sides. We still want a child molester to stay away from children though, we don't let the shadiness of rest of the details cloud our judgement of what should be done about a child molester.

Curious to find out if it's www.facebook.com/NoSPVBLawSuit/This literally reads like a more sophisticated version of what we heard for years when SPVB kids would say "oh but that was so long ago". Sure people are lying on both sides, there is absolutely no doubt about that, but just because he did a bunch of things other people would have certainly been capable of doing if he had went to prison we are just going to pretend like two wrongs (or 100's) make a right? Families can be loyal and that is fine in their own right, but they are also open to the criticism that comes with them financially supporting a child rapist and his monster of a wife who has verbally assaulted and threatened people for decades who try to bring light to the situation. Hell Hitler convinced an entire country to follow him in world domination and extreme genocide, do you think had he not killed himself along with all those other top commanders that fled as well, we would be looking at him different. Would we be teaching history classes like " oh that was so long ago, look how much money he has donated to all these synagogues around the world and the reparations he gave families after ripping gold fillings out of their bodies before imprisoning and starving them to death." When the butlers pride themselves on their staff and how they teach the sport then shouldn't they be able to walk away and hand over everything to the people that have been with them for so long? Sure he impacted the game in many ways for years, but I think it is a pretty general consensus that the SPVB, and the game of volleyball, will be better when him and his wife are long gone and the stain of their transgressions can start to be washed away.

You’re forgetting one key point here, and that’s Mullen. People don’t take too kindly to revisionist history and while they don’t know exactly what happened between Butler and his accusers, they DO know the version of what Mullen is telling is categorically untrue. The internet and what you post (or email) lives forever, especially if there’s time stamps...

Ironically, pretty sure as previously said, you can't collapse as class action suit by getting 100 opt outs. More ironically, if/when a judgment is awarded, the evil Mullens will get a bigger share.

I think the line about people lying on both sides covers the misinformation or "forgotten" timeline that would be attributed to the Mullen's, their suit got the ball rolling and whether they provided misinformation or not it is no different that rick and cheryl lying out their asses for years - otherwise the "Our Story" website would still be an active web page for everyone to see. It was taken down and locked for a reason in hopes that it did not live forever on the internet because it was mostly full of sh*t. The point is all this time later people are still finding a way to re word the "it was so long ago" argument trying to show everything great he had done when he should have been in prison instead while plenty of other great coaches in the area would have done the same thing and the parents that still openly support and finance a child rapist and his vulgar abusive wife are fair game and open to criticism.
